Jason saved the world when he was twelve. Now comes the boss battle nobody warned him about: fatherhood.

White Cat Entertainment returns to Elvenwood with Long Ago & Far Away 2: Son of Elvenwood (Part 1), the next chapter of Chris Mancini’s comedy-fantasy series, illustrated and covered by Fernando Pinto with lettering by Troy Peteri.

The sequel jumps five years beyond the first volume. Jason now has a son, Lord Stone, but Elvenwood’s relationship with time makes the family reunion a little ridiculous: his son is roughly 20 years older than he is. Lord Stone is also seriously pissed about being abandoned, and his anger has helped bring the deadly northern Necromancers down on Elvenwood.

Mancini says the series was designed as a fantasy mirror for different stages of life. Where Volume 1 dealt with the end of childhood, the new story pushes Jason into family, responsibility and consequences, just with considerably more bloodthirsty Necromancers than the average parenting book.

WEPAAAA! Yo, imagine saving a fantasy world as a kid, then finding out your own son is old enough to give YOU parenting advice. That’s not a family reunion, fam. That’s a Thanksgiving argument waiting to happen, except the angry relatives brought Necromancers. Chris Mancini takes the familiar chosen-one fantasy and hits it with grown-up consequences nobody warned the hero about.

The time difference in Elvenwood gives this sequel a ridiculous emotional problem. Jason hasn’t lived the same years that Lord Stone has, but his son still has every reason to feel abandoned. That tension could’ve been a quick gag. Instead, it becomes the spark for a threat reaching beyond the family and putting the realm in danger. Funny how unresolved family business can become everybody’s problem, huh?

With Fernando Pinto on illustration and covers and Troy Peteri handling letters, the returning creative team has a world worth revisiting. The promise isn’t just more swords, monsters and fantasy chaos. It’s a sequel willing to ask what happens after the childhood adventure ends and responsibility shows up looking for answers. Somebody get Jason a parenting manual and a sharp sword.

Long Ago & Far Away 2: Son of Elvenwood (Part 1) hits shelves December 9, 2026 through White Cat Entertainment.
