Marvel’s Winter Break Special Returns With a Frosty Avengers vs. X-Men Face-Off!

Marvel’s biggest heroes suit up for New Year’s Eve, winter fashion, festive pinups and the first-ever Avengers vs. X-Men hockey game!

Winter is coming, but the Marvel Universe is not staying home under a blanket. Marvel’s heroes are pulling out their cold-weather gear, dressing to impress and getting ready to celebrate in Marvel Winter Break Special 2026 #1, an extra-sized one-shot arriving at comic shops this December.

Following the success of last year’s Marvel Winter Break Special #1 and the recent return of the Marvel Swimsuit Special, Marvel is turning down the temperature while cranking the fun all the way up. The new special combines winter-themed stories, festive pinups and enough superhero fashion to make the average ugly holiday sweater tap out from embarrassment.

Ryan North, Christina Strain, Javier Garrón and Pete Woods headline the creative lineup, joined by a stacked roster of Marvel talent bringing the season’s celebrations to life.

New Year’s Eve has arrived in the Marvel Universe, and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes are dressed to the nines for the biggest party of the year. A cavalcade of artists will showcase some of Marvel’s hottest heroes in their coolest winter looks, while two seasonal stories help readers ring in 2027 with action, comedy and plenty of superhero chaos.

The true main event, however, may happen on the ice.

Wolverine is organizing the world’s first Avengers versus X-Men hockey game. Yeah, bub, somebody handed Logan a puck, put two legendary teams on opposing sides and apparently decided New Year’s Eve needed more body checks. Forget the Danger Room. Forget Avengers Mountain. Once these squads hit the rink, the penalty box may need its own expansion issue.
