BEING YOUNG NEVER GETS OLD!

Riverdale is waking up, baby and this time, the whole town is buzzing like Pop’s Chock’lit Shoppe just started serving espresso shots with a side of comic book history.

Oni Press, the multiple Eisner and Harvey Award-winning publisher that has been dropping groundbreaking comics and graphic novels since 1997, is teaming up with the legendary Archie Comic Publications, Inc. for one of the biggest and most exciting publishing moves of the year. This fall, the doors to Riverdale swing wide open again with the all-new ARCHIE #1, a fresh, heartfelt, stylish, and joy-loaded celebration of Archie Andrews and 85 years of one of comics’ most iconic universes.

And let’s be clear this is not some dusty nostalgia trip where everybody just smiles, waves, and eats burgers. Nah. This is Archie for a new generation, built with respect for the past, energy for the present, and enough mystery to make Jughead put down the sandwich and start connecting clues.

Launching this September, ARCHIE #1 brings together a powerhouse creative team led by New York Times bestselling writer, Edgar Award and Philip K. Dick Award winner, and Eisner Award nominee Ben H. Winters, known for EC’s Cruel Universe and Benjamin. He is joined by multiple Eisner Award-winning artist Fábio Moon of Daytripper and Casanova, rising star artist Nick Cagnetti of Spirit in the Shadows and Pink Lemonade, and multiple Shuster Award-winning cover artist Stuart Immonen, whose work on All-New X-Men and New Avengers speaks for itself.

That is not a creative team. That is a comics Avengers-level roll call with Riverdale letterman jackets.

At the center of the new series is 17-year-old Archie Andrews, the classic redheaded heart of Riverdale. He has the friends, the football glory, the charm, and that weird magical ability to be in the middle of everything without even trying. But this time, readers will experience Riverdale through Archie’s eyes in a way that feels bigger, warmer, stranger, and more alive than ever.

The new ARCHIE #1 takes readers through the town’s past, present, and future, shining a spotlight on Riverdale’s massive cast of familiar faces, beloved weirdos, popular kids, oddballs, dreamers, and troublemakers. It all begins with a local film festival that sounds innocent enough — until everything starts flipping sideways like somebody spilled a milkshake on the timeline.

And right in the middle of the madness? A mystery. A paradox. A puzzle only Jughead Jones might be able to untangle.

That alone should tell fans this new Archie era is not playing it safe. We are getting heart. We are getting humor. We are getting puzzles, pin-ups, surprises, and that classic Riverdale sweetness — but with a 21st-century spark that makes the whole thing feel fresh without losing the soul.

Oni Press President and Publisher Hunter Gorinson called this new Archie collaboration one of the most significant and anticipated projects in Oni’s 30-year history. And honestly, you can feel that ambition all over this announcement. From ARCHIE to SABRINA THE TEENAGE WITCH to ARCHIE IN HELL, Oni is clearly building a line that wants to celebrate Archie Comics while also giving readers something bold, stylish, and unexpected.

Writer Ben H. Winters also brings the right energy to the table. He describes Archie as a true American icon, standing alongside characters like Mickey Mouse and Bart Simpson — a character who is curious, kind, adventurous, and always surrounded by loyal friends. That is the secret sauce right there. Archie works because Riverdale feels like a place readers want to visit, even when things get weird, dramatic, romantic, supernatural, or completely unhinged.

And Winters knows storytelling. His credits include the New York Times bestselling Last Policeman trilogy, Underground Airlines, Big Time, work on FX’s Legion, and the creation of CBS’ hit series Tracker. His comic book work with Oni’s revived EC Comics line helped power Cruel Universe to major sales and an Eisner Award nomination, followed by his acclaimed full-length comics project Benjamin with artist Leomacs.

Now he is stepping into Riverdale and that is a fascinating creative match. Because Archie, at his best, is not just about teenage laughs and love triangles. It is about community. Identity. Growing up. Being seen. Finding your people. Making mistakes. Laughing through the awkward moments. Trying to be good in a world that keeps getting louder and weirder.

That is why this relaunch feels exciting. It is honoring Archie’s 85-year legacy while letting Riverdale breathe again for today’s readers. The innocence is still there. The comedy is still there. The friendship is still there. But now there is a bigger sense of mystery, design, ambition, and emotional electricity behind it.

Then, just a short step behind the all-new ARCHIE #1 by Ben H. Winters & Fábio Moon, the new Archie Comics line at Oni Press grows with two more must-read series:

Next: In October, Hugo Award nominee Corinna Bechko (Green Lantern: Earth One, EC’s Blood Type) and Eisner Award nominee Kano (Daredevil, Gotham Central) conjure a new spell of magic and mischief in SABRINA THE TEENAGE WITCH #1! Who’d ever want to be ordinary when you could be a teenage witch instead? Still reeling from the surprise revelation of her secret birthright and with Halloween just around the corner, high schooler Sabrina Spellman is honing her craft one hex at a time and figuring out how to balance her magical new life with the crushing responsibilities of being 16 years old. But when her feline familiar Salem drops a mythical trickster on Sabrina’s literal doorstep, she might not be able to keep her two worlds from smashing together like two busted pumpkins. No time for fate. No time for destiny. No time for homework. Being a teenager is far from magical . . . even when you’re a witch!

Then, in November, the inferno begins in ARCHIE IN HELL #1! In another time, in another Riverdale, Archie Andrews’ radiant life is about to turn pitch black. Separated from his friends and bound by a terrible curse, there’s only one way to save Archie: to damn him. But he won’t be alone for long . . . In the footsteps of Archie’s hit horror series, AFTERLIFE WITH ARCHIE, join multiple Eisner Award winner Patrick Horvath (Beneath the Trees where Nobody Sees) and Eisner Award nominee Tyler Crook (Out of Alcatraz, Harrow County) as they forge a brand-new legend of Archie horror, leaving a blood-stained trail from 1690 to the present day.

Timed to coincide with the 85th anniversary of Archie’s first appearance in PEP COMICS #22 in 1941, the new partnership between Oni Press and Archie Comics will soon be followed by a new line of compact comic collections and deluxe graphic novels to be published by Oni this coming fall, in addition to Archie Comics’ publishing and licensing collaborations, as well as a new live-action feature film written by Eisner Award winner Tom King and produced by Phil Lord & Christopher Miller for Universal Pictures in the years ahead.
