SWAMP THING IS KILLING THE CHILDREN #1 Brings the Slaughterverse Its First Crossover

·Al Mega

SWAMP THING IS KILLING THE CHILDREN #1 main cover by Werther Dell’Edera

Wepa, now this is the kind of crossover that makes you stop scrolling for a second. BOOM! Studios is throwing Swamp Thing straight into the Slaughterverse for SWAMP THING IS KILLING THE CHILDREN #1, a 64-page one-shot from James Tynion IV and Werther Dell’Edera. It is also the first crossover story ever told inside the Something Is Killing the Children universe, so yeah, they are swinging big with this one.

The setup is nasty in the best possible way. Two siblings who love comics stumble into horror stories that begin bleeding into reality, and those nightmares eventually put Erica Slaughter on a collision course with one of the most recognizable monsters in comics. Except Swamp Thing is not some random creature you point Erica at and call it a day. There is history, mythology and a whole different kind of horror attached to him, which makes this pairing way more interesting than a simple “who wins?” gimmick.

Tynion and Dell’Edera are the team that built Something Is Killing the Children into one of the biggest modern horror franchises in comics, and Comic Crusaders has been following that world as it keeps expanding. Earlier this year we covered the next chapter of the Slaughterverse, while our Swamp Thing coverage has also dug into DC’s long-awaited SWAMP THING 1989 project. Smashing those two lanes together gives this book a lot more juice than your average crossover stunt.

The main cover is also by Dell’Edera, with BOOM! rolling out a deep lineup of variants around the event. The comic is priced at $8.99, clocks in at 64 pages, and carries a final order cutoff of October 19, 2026. The book hits comic shops on December 2, 2026. You can also check the official distributor listing for the current solicitation details.

I like the matchup because both worlds understand horror differently. Erica Slaughter lives in a universe where fear can become flesh, while Swamp Thing has spent decades standing in the middle of body horror, supernatural weirdness and the terrifying idea that nature does not care whether humanity understands it. Put those ideas in the hands of Tynion and Dell’Edera and there is room here for something much stranger than a standard crossover punch-up.

SWAMP THING IS KILLING THE CHILDREN #1 arrives December 2. If BOOM! wanted a way to make the first Slaughterverse crossover feel like an actual event instead of another logo mashup, bringing Swamp Thing into Erica Slaughter’s world is one hell of a way to do it.
