YOUR FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN #1 Bridges the Gap to Season Two

Peter Parker is getting a little homework before Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man returns to Disney+, and Marvel is making it count. This December, YOUR FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN #1 kicks off a four-issue comic series set directly between Seasons One and Two, with Christos Gage writing and Eric Gapstur handling the art.
That placement is what makes this more interesting than a random animated-series tie-in. Peter is still trying to balance the superhero life with the people around him, but things at Oscorp are clearly not finished. Norman Osborn may have stepped away from the spider business, Harry is not convinced the danger has passed, and something is brewing behind the scenes that pulls Peter and his friends right back into the mess.
Gage and Gapstur previously worked on Marvel’s 2024 prequel comic for the series, so this is not a cold start. Gage says the new story was coordinated with showrunner Jeff Trammell so it sits firmly inside the show’s continuity, and Marvel is already teasing the comic-book debut of classic Spider-Man villains within this version of the universe. That makes the mini-series potentially useful connective tissue instead of something fans can safely ignore between seasons.

There is also a fun old-school flavor baked into this version of Spidey. Gage has talked about the series mixing a Silver Age feel with newer characters and situations, which fits what the animated show has been doing from the jump. If you have been keeping up with Spider-Man across the rest of Marvel’s line, Comic Crusaders recently covered the new era of MILES MORALES: SPIDER-MAN as well, so the wall-crawling side of Marvel is staying busy heading into the end of the year.
Leonardo Romero provides the main cover, with Luciano Vecchio on a variant and additional covers still to be revealed. YOUR FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN #1 hits comic shops on December 9, 2026. Marvel says the four-issue series will set the stage for the animated show’s second season, which is expected to return to Disney+ early next year.
I am always down for a tie-in comic when it actually has a job to do, and this one sounds like it does. If Marvel really uses these four issues to move characters, villains and Oscorp storylines into position before Season Two starts, this could end up being the kind of bridge fans are glad they read instead of another piece of homework they forget existed.
