MR. LOVENSTEIN PRESENTS: FUN KICKSTARTER CLOSES OUT THE TRILOGY

Skybound has officially launched the Kickstarter for Mr. Lovenstein Presents: Fun, and if you have followed J.L. Westover’s wonderfully strange webcomic work, the title is doing exactly what it says on the box. This is the final book in the small-but-mighty Mr. Lovenstein trilogy, and Skybound is loading it up like they are trying to see how much absurdity one square book can physically hold.

The new collection runs more than 200 pages and includes Westover’s comics along with 12 book-exclusive strips, secret panels and guest comics. It follows the previous Kickstarter books Mr. Lovenstein Presents: Failure and Mr. Lovenstein Presents: Feelings, which together raised $575,000, so there is already a pretty serious audience waiting to complete the set.

The campaign is also introducing Mr. Lovenstein Presents: New Heights, a Kickstarter-exclusive collection built around strips that apparently could not be contained by the original square format. Skybound is literally adding two inches to the book, which is such a ridiculous publishing flex that I have to respect it.

For readers who missed the earlier campaigns, there is also Mr. Lovenstein Presents: All of It, a complete collection housed in a Kickstarter-exclusive slipcase. That package brings together Failure, Feelings, Fun and New Heights, with higher campaign tiers offering additional rewards including bookmarks, die-cut stickers, art prints and more stretch-goal extras still to be announced.

Skybound has turned crowdfunding into a major part of its publishing machine, with campaigns ranging from Transformers and G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero compendiums to creator-focused projects like Danger Girl, Ava’s Demon and The Book of Shame. The Mr. Lovenstein books fit that model especially well because the audience already knows exactly what kind of wonderfully weird humor Westover brings to the table.

The Mr. Lovenstein Presents: Fun Kickstarter is live now and is scheduled to close on October 21, 2026 at 12 p.m. PT.
