Eric Powell’s The Goon Library Editions Return to Print Starting in March 2027

The Goon is coming back to the shelf in a big way. Dark Horse Books and Albatross Books have announced that all five volumes of Eric Powell’s The Goon Library Edition will return to print, beginning with The Goon Library Edition Volume 1 (Second Edition) on March 2, 2027.

The deluxe hardcovers will return in a new 7 x 10-inch size, giving longtime fans and new readers another shot at collecting Powell’s award-winning crime-pulp horror series without having to wrestle the aftermarket like it owes them money.

Written and illustrated by Eric Powell, The Goon mixes noir, monsters, crime, black comedy and old-school pulp attitude into one beautifully bruised universe. Volume 1 brings readers back to the war between the Nameless Man, also known as the Zombie Priest, and the territory controlled by crime boss Labrazio and his seemingly unstoppable enforcer, the Goon.

When the Zombie Priest discovers one of the Goon’s most closely guarded secrets, the balance of power begins to shift and the undead problem gets a whole lot more personal.

The Goon Library Edition Volume 1 (Second Edition) collects The Goon Volumes 0 through 3 in a 496-page hardcover. The book will retail for $59.99 and is now available for preorder through major booksellers, comic shops and bookstores.

Dark Horse says Volumes 2 through 5 will follow throughout 2027 and 2028, eventually bringing the full five-volume Library Edition run back into print in the new format.

Powell’s series has earned its reputation by being able to move from grotesque slapstick to genuinely emotional storytelling without losing its identity. One page can feel like a bar fight between Universal Monsters and the next can hit you with a surprisingly human gut punch. That tonal balance is a big part of why The Goon has stayed beloved for so long.

The Goon Library Edition Volume 1 (Second Edition) arrives in comic shops and bookstores on March 2, 2027.
