The Twin Flames #1 Blazes onto Kickstarter with Indie Comic Fire!

·Al Mega

Summit Comics is turning up the temperature on the indie comics scene with the launch of The Twin Flames #1, the first solo title starring the Summit Universe’s fiery fan-favorite power couple, Soraya and Nico.

Following the breakout debut of the creator-owned shared superhero universe in Summit: Pinnacle #1, Summit Comics is now bringing readers deeper into the flames with a new Kickstarter campaign that puts love, legacy, power, and superhero spectacle front and center.

Written by Summit Comics Group Editor J. Michael Miller (Kid Cretaceous, The Healer’s Blade) with art by Rom Silva, The Twin Flames #1 follows Soraya and Nico, two heroes who receive nearly identical fire-based powers at the same moment from a mysterious source. Their story begins in the aftermath of A-Day, the cataclysmic event introduced in Summit: Pinnacle #1 that ignited the larger Summit Universe and gave this power couple one unforgettable entrance.

And let’s keep it real — superhero comics have always had room for big punches, bigger explosions, cosmic chaos, and world-ending threats. But when you add romance, emotional stakes, and two heroes literally burning with the same mysterious power? Now we’re cooking with premium indie gas.

Miller makes it clear that The Twin Flames is not just another superhero title with cool powers and flashy action. At its core, this is a love story with fire in its veins.

“I’m going to ask a dumb question. Have you seen The Notebook? Most people have. It’s a story about a husband reading to his wife their real life love story to help her remember him. Romance and superheroes have been at my core for longer than I can remember,” Miller says of the series.

He adds, “Whether it was watching all of the superhero Saturday morning cartoons, finding my first comic shop in middle school, or hiding my heroic motivations behind a mask. Well, this is what I want my wife to read to me when my mind starts to slip. I know that The Twin Flames could help reignite my love and passion beyond the grave.”

That right there? That’s the good stuff. Not just capes and fireballs. Not just another “hero discovers powers” situation. This is personal. This is emotional. This is the kind of indie storytelling that reminds readers why creator-owned comics continue to be one of the most exciting spaces in the industry.

The Twin Flames #1 also comes packed with two backup shorts, adding even more creative firepower to the campaign. The first backup story is written by Eisner-nominated Wonder Woman writer Stephanie Williams, with art by Marcus Jimenez. The second story comes from writer Nate Schachter and artist Ignacio Di Meglio.

Miller shared how Williams became involved after a chance connection at Boise Comic Arts Festival.

“Last fall, I stepped away from my table at Boise Comic Arts Festival to attend a panel with Stephanie Williams and two other publishers,” Miller says. “I’m beyond excited we were able to talk about Summit Comics afterward and that I was able to invite her to join this incredible cast of talent and craft such an emotionally resonant and powerful story after the main fanfare ends.”

That kind of creative energy is exactly what makes independent comics special. One conversation, one convention moment, one spark — and boom, a whole new layer gets added to the universe.

The Kickstarter campaign gives fans and backers the opportunity to support the print run for The Twin Flames #1, with rewards that include covers from Marcus Jimenez (Killstrike), Brian Wolf (The Go-To Guys), and more. The campaign is live now and runs through early July.

The arrival of The Twin Flames #1 continues the expansion of the Summit Universe, which has already started generating serious buzz across the indie comics landscape. Following its January 2026 Kickstarter launch, Summit: Pinnacle #1 received coverage from outlets including CBR, Screen Rant, and Graphic Policy, helping establish Summit Comics as a creator-owned publisher worth keeping on your radar.

And now, with Soraya and Nico stepping into the spotlight, Summit Comics is proving that its universe is not just about assembling heroes — it is about building characters readers can connect with, root for, and remember.

The Twin Flames #1 is available exclusively through Kickstarter.
