The truth is out there… and for comic collectors heading to FAN EXPO Denver this Friday, it might also be sitting inside your long box.
FAN EXPO Denver is bringing together one of the biggest X-Files reunions fans have seen in years as Gillian Anderson, David Duchovny, Mitch Pileggi, William B. Davis, Annabeth Gish, and Nicholas Lea reunite for a massive celebration of the legendary sci-fi franchise on Friday, May 29.
For longtime fans, this is more than just a panel. This is a once-in-a-generation nostalgia collision. Mulder. Scully. Krycek. Skinner. Cigarette-Smoking Man. Doggett. Reyes. These characters helped define paranormal television for an entire era.
But while many fans are preparing posters, photos, and Funko Pops for signatures, comic collectors may want to think a little differently.
Several members of the X-Files cast also made memorable appearances across the franchise’s comic book history through both Topps Comics and IDW Publishing, creating some incredibly fun and unique autograph opportunities for fans attending the event.

Fox Mulder & Dana Scully – First Comic Appearance
Fox Mulder and Dana Scully made their comic book debut in The X-Files Vol. 1 #1 published by Topps Comics.
This book has become an iconic piece of 90s licensed comic history and perfectly captures the eerie paranoia and supernatural atmosphere that made The X-Files a cultural phenomenon during its peak years.
For fans lucky enough to meet David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson together, this might be one of the coolest signature pieces imaginable.

The Cigarette-Smoking Man – First Comic Appearance
William B. Davis’ legendary Cigarette-Smoking Man also made his comic debut in that same premiere Topps Comics issue.
The mysterious manipulator lurking in the shadows became one of television’s most unforgettable conspiracy villains, and his inclusion in the original comic adaptation makes that first issue even more collectible for hardcore X-Files fans.

Alex Krycek – First Comic Appearance
Nicholas Lea’s fan-favorite double agent Alex Krycek made his comic book debut in The X-Files Issue #0 from Topps Comics.
Krycek became one of the franchise’s most unpredictable characters, constantly shifting between ally, enemy, and survivor throughout the series. Because of that, his comic debut has become an especially fun deep-cut collectible for longtime fans of the mythology-heavy years of The X-Files.

Walter Skinner – First Comic Appearance
Mitch Pileggi’s Walter Skinner made his first comic appearance slightly later in the original Topps Comics run, debuting in The X-Files Vol. 1 #6: “Billings of Unreality.”
Skinner evolved from skeptical authority figure into one of the emotional backbones of the series, and Pileggi remains one of the most beloved actors in the franchise among longtime fans.

Monica Reyes & John Doggett – First Comic Appearance
Annabeth Gish’s Monica Reyes and Robert Patrick’s John Doggett made their comic book debut together in The X-Files Season 10 #1: “Believers Part 1” published by IDW in June 2013.
The IDW era revived The X-Files mythology for a new generation while continuing the television continuity fans loved, making this issue an important modern chapter in the franchise’s comic history.

A Different Kind of Convention Signature
One of the best parts of conventions is finding unique items that stand out from the standard autograph lineup. While posters and 8x10s will always be classics, comic books tell a different side of fandom history, one that blends television, collectibles, storytelling, and nostalgia into a single piece.
And with a reunion this stacked, fans still have time to hunt these books down before Friday’s event at FAN EXPO Denver.
The truth is out there. It just might be bagged and boarded.
