🍦 ICE CREAM MAN #1 Gets a Sinister New Flavor With a Bonus Story and Mind-Bending Decodable Cover This October

The Chocolate/Vanilla Twist Edition brings Image Comics’ horror hit back in black and white this October, complete with hidden artwork, secret messages, and one seriously creepy scoop.

Just when you thought it was safe to wander back toward the ice cream truck, W. Maxwell Prince and Martín Morazzo are serving up another frozen nightmare.

Ice Cream Man #1: Chocolate/Vanilla Twist brings the bestselling series’ debut issue back to print in stark black and white, featuring remastered lettering by Good Old Neon, a brand-new short story from the full creative team, and one of the wildest interactive covers to hit comic shops in a minute.

The original cover artwork has been hidden using focal-decoder technology that makes the Ice Cream Man disappear. Readers can bring that creepy cat back into view using the included “Lookety Split” Decoder Lens, revealing the complete artwork along with secret images and messages. Yeah, fam. The cover has secrets. Because apparently simply reading a horror comic was no longer stressful enough.

Prince described the project as the collision of two personal creative obsessions: Morazzo’s earliest pages from the series and the decoder technology he first encountered through Bright Eyes’ 2007 album, Cassadaga. He also revealed that the release serves as the opening chapter in a special celebration leading into the series’ return to regular publication in December and its march toward issue #50.

Morazzo reflected on how far the series has come, calling Ice Cream Man a life-changing experience and describing this new edition as the perfect way to begin celebrating the road to the milestone 50th issue, scheduled for 2027.

Ice Cream Man #1: Chocolate/Vanilla Twist arrives at comic book shops on Wednesday, October 14, 2026. Grab it before it disappears faster than your childhood innocence after reading this series.

The issue will also be available digitally through Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play.
