Sarah Lancaster and Kristoffer Polaha Lead RESCUED, a Powerful True Story of Faith, Sacrifice, and Real-World Impact

TR Films and Reserve Entertainment have officially wrapped principal photography on RESCUED, a feature film inspired by the extraordinary true story of Mike Williams, a successful comedian whose life changed forever after the devastating 2010 Haiti earthquake.

And fam, this is not your average “based on a true story” situation. This is one of those stories that grabs you by the chest and says, “Yo, what are you doing with the life you were given?”

After witnessing a level of need he could not ignore, Williams made the kind of decision most people talk about but few actually live. He stepped away from personal success, moved his family to the Dominican Republic, and dedicated his life to serving vulnerable children and families in need.

RESCUED stars Kristoffer Polaha of Jurassic World: Dominion, American Hostage, and The Shift, alongside Sarah Lancaster of Chuck and Blue Ridge. The cast also includes Gilberto Ortiz, Jordan Rice, Stelio Savante, and Manny Perez.

The film is written and directed by Trey Reynolds, who also produces through TR Films alongside Darren Moorman of Reserve Entertainment. The creative team previously collaborated on BLUE MIRACLE, the acclaimed Netflix original inspired by true events. Now they are back with another story rooted in courage, compassion, and the kind of faith that does not just talk loud, it shows up with work boots on.

Producer Darren Moorman said the film reminds audiences what can happen when ordinary people choose to live for something bigger than themselves. He noted that Mike Williams stepped away from personal success to answer a deeper calling, and that the impact of that choice is still being felt today.

Filmed entirely on location in the Dominican Republic, RESCUED brings authenticity, culture, and emotional weight to the origin story of CUPS Mission. The film draws from the landscapes, communities, and spirit of the Dominican Republic, highlighting the people and places that helped shape Williams’ journey.

Jack Eason, executive producer of the film and executive director of CUPS Mission, shared that what began as one family’s act of faith grew into a lasting mission. From repairing a contaminated water well, to feeding refugees in a garbage dump, to helping start a community center for children, the work expanded as local residents joined together to transform their community.

Writer and director Trey Reynolds said he knew he had to be part of the film the moment he heard Mike’s story. According to Reynolds, RESCUED is for every person who has ever felt called to do something greater than themselves, even when they were not sure they were brave enough to answer.

RESCUED sounds like the kind of film built to remind audiences that purpose is not always comfortable, calling does not always arrive politely, and sometimes the biggest rescue starts with one person finally saying, “Alright, I’m in.”
