Videogame Review: We Happy Few

We Happy Few is the tale of a plucky bunch of moderately terrible people trying to escape from a lifetime of cheerful denial in the city of Wellington Wells. In this alternative 1960s England, conformity is key. You“ll have to fight or blend in with the drug-addled inhabitants, most of whom don“t take kindly to people who won“t abide by their not-so-normal rules.

In this Canadian crowd funded game you initially take on the role of Arthur, who has had enough of taking his “joy”“ to forget the past. What comes up is his memory of his brother and embarks on a journey to find him.

This game was in the Xbox game preview program for 2 years before seeing its final release. From its early beginnings to now has been a huge transformation.

This open world game offers a lot of story and side missions to keep you busy for 40 plus hours. In addition to three chapters with different characters and more coming with a season pass available.

With beautiful graphics and very different story line this gamer highly recommends a play through for anyone that enjoys a fantastic single player story line.

The good: Story line is well told, with graphics to make monitor glow with vibrant colors.

The bad: Controls can be a bit wonky at times.

The ugly: Combat is just a mess in this game, but you will overlook this will all that it offers.

The Verdict: This game is simply a treat of a game to play. You want to find out why this town wants to forget it“s past. You genuinely feel for the main character and want him to find his brother. The score, graphics and little details Compulsion games went through have really made this game a gem and one that any gamer that enjoys a single player story driven concept a must play.
