Mindy Indy Sends Surfers to Mars With AER HEAD | Comic Crusaders Podcast #774

Mindy Indy joins me on the Comic Crusaders Podcast to talk about AER HEAD #1–3: Send Surfers to Mars!, her sci-fi/comedy comic series built around surfing, psychic abilities, futuristic technology and one hell of a wild vision for the future.

At the center of the story is Aereo Zephyr, a teenage surfer and lifeguard living in New San Diego who experiences visions of the future through his dreams. That sounds like a great power until you realize seeing danger coming does not automatically mean you know how to stop it. That gives AER HEAD more weight than just being a flashy sci-fi adventure.

Mindy has spent years developing this world, blending real science concepts with comic-book imagination while building a future that still feels human. We get into solar flares, Mars, futuristic New San Diego and the challenge of creating a long-running indie series without losing the personality that made it fun in the first place.

We also talk about the real business behind independent comics. This is Mindy’s third Kickstarter, so she has learned firsthand about printing, marketing, crowdfunding, convention promotion, managing inventory and trying to stay creative while wearing damn near every hat in the publishing process.

AER HEAD #1–3: Send Surfers to Mars! is currently on Kickstarter through October 22, 2026, giving readers a chance to jump into the series while Mindy pushes the story toward its next chapter.

Check out my conversation with Mindy Indy as we talk AER HEAD, indie comics, Kickstarter, sci-fi worldbuilding and what it takes to keep building your own universe when nobody is handing you a roadmap.
