Shero Comics Announces Second Young Grandmaster Choi Collector’s Doll to Help Fund Next Manga Chapters
Shero Comics is thrilled to announce the upcoming release of the second Young Grandmaster Choi Collector’s Doll, expanding the collectible line inspired by its critically acclaimed martial arts manga. The company will be offering presales of the new doll to fund the production of Chapters 3 and 4, completing the first volume of Young Grandmaster Choi.
The new doll, modeled after Rayven Choi’s evolving journey as a martial arts phenom, comes with updated accessories, a fresh look, and the same empowering energy that fans of the series have come to love. With its launch, Shero Comics continues its mission to create positive, powerful, and culturally rich stories featuring Black girls as heroes.
Recently, the series gained the attention of actress and entrepreneur Gabrielle Union, who showed her support for Young Grandmaster Choi by sharing it with her daughter Kaavia James on social media—sparking excitement among fans and new readers alike.
“The first doll and books were a hit with readers, parents, and educators across the country,” said Shero Comics founder and creator Shequeta L. Smith. “This second edition gives fans another way to support the series while adding to their collection. By purchasing the doll during presale, supporters will directly help us bring the next two chapters of Rayven’s story to life.”
Young Grandmaster Choi follows six-year-old Rayven Johnson, an African-American army brat who, after losing her parents, is adopted by the Choi family in Seoul, South Korea. The coming-of-age story blends action, heart, and culture as Rayven finds herself through martial arts and resilience.
At a time when diverse books are being pulled from shelves across the country, Shero Comics is proud to bring Black girl magic to the world of manga—while actively fighting back against book bans and censorship through authentic storytelling and community empowerment.
The collector’s doll will be available for presale starting May 1, 2025, at www.sherocomics.com —just in time for AAPI Heritage Month. All proceeds will go directly toward the creation of Chapters 3 and 4, which will complete the first full manga volume of Young Grandmaster Choi.
