Doctor Doom Recruits Captain America as Armageddon Begins

June is about to go nuclear for Marvel fans. CAPTAIN AMERICA #12 launches a powerful new arc in Chip Zdarsky and Valerio Schiti’s acclaimed run—colliding directly with Zdarsky’s explosive upcoming event, AVENGERS: ARMAGEDDON.

Marvel fans, buckle up because June is about to shake the Marvel Universe to its core. The explosive new event AVENGERS: ARMAGEDDON is coming in hot, and it’s about to flip the future of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes upside down. Crafted by powerhouse writer Chip Zdarsky with artists Frank Alpizar and Delio Diaz, this limited series blasts directly out of Zdarsky and Valerio Schiti’s red-hot CAPTAIN AMERICA run, which ignites a brand-new story arc starting with CAPTAIN AMERICA #12 this June.

Right now, Steve Rogers is deep in the fire. Captain America has joined the all-new S.H.I.E.L.D. on a high-stakes mission to Latveria, trying to keep the peace while Victor Von Doom remains mysteriously absent. But peace in Latveria? Yeah… that was never going to last.

Enter Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross—The Red Hulk. And Ross isn’t here to talk diplomacy. He’s here for revenge.

Ross launches a brutal assault on Latveria that sends shockwaves across the globe. The fallout is massive—dragging Captain America into a conflict that threatens the entire world. As chaos erupts, a new Avengers team rises to stop the Red Hulk, setting the stage for the massive collision course known as AVENGERS: ARMAGEDDON.

But here’s where things get wild.

Steve Rogers suddenly finds himself caught in a war he never asked for… fighting under the command of the one man he never expected to stand beside again—Doctor Doom.

That’s right. Victor Von Doom returns.

The Latverian monarch hasn’t been seen since his dramatic fall during last year’s One World Under Doom, and now he’s back with a plan so bold, so dangerous, that even Captain America is being pulled into it. Doom needs Steve Rogers for something massive, and whatever he’s building is pushing the Marvel Universe straight toward Armageddon.

When S.H.I.E.L.D.’s mission in Latveria collapses in a storm of violence, Cap finds himself standing in the last place he expected… next to the last ally he ever imagined. Where has Doom been hiding all this time? And what could possibly make him turn to Captain America for help?

Those answers start unfolding this June as the countdown to ARMAGEDDON begins.

Zdarsky himself is clearly having the time of his life writing the infamous ruler of Latveria.

“I love writing Doom,” Zdarsky shared. “After my first arc with him and Cap, I knew I needed them to meet again. Their dynamic is incredibly fun, and this encounter is going to change both characters for a very long time.”
