Old-school Sword and Sorcery Comic Book Magazine Launches 2nd Issue

Writer Dara Naraghi (DC, Image, IDW, Dark Horse, NBM) and artist Brent Bowman (Image, Caliber, NBM) present the second issue of Cerulean the Sorceress, a provocative and exciting old-school sword & sorcery comic born out of their love of fantasy novels, D&D, sword and sorcery movies of the 80s, and the Savage Sword of Conan magazine.

Banished from the capital city for treason by a scheming queen, sorceress Cerulean roams the kingdom of Maledorn in search of adventure, mystical knowledge, and a sense of purpose. Joined by the reformed brigand Nemo, and his deaf canine companion Finn, the trio face arcane monsters, ruthless warlords, fanatical cabals, and demented wizards throughout their adventures. In issue #2, our heroes plan a daring heist on the high seas with the aid of the notorious pirate queen known as the River Rat. But with a priceless tome of ancient magical knowledge at stake, can this deadly beauty and her mysterious crew be trusted?

“With this comic we just want to have fun and present a thrilling adventure featuring magic, monsters, cults, and combat,” Mr. Naraghi said. “Dara and I both grew up reading classic fantasy comics, and we’re hoping to capture some of the magic of books like Savage Sword of Conan, Dax, Dagar the Invincible, El Cid, and similar comics. We’re creating something that we would want to read ourselves, and we think you will too,” added Mr. Bowman.

The comic book is currently in the midst of a crowdfunding campaign on the Indiegogo platform. Backers can choose from digital or print versions of the comic magazine, plus perks such as pencil or ink sketches from Mr. Bowman.
