Alien Vs. X-Men Unleashes Mutantkind’s Deadliest Survival War Yet!

Ay yo, Marvel just looked at the X-Men, looked at the Xenomorphs, and said, “Yeah… let’s ruin everybody’s sleep schedule.”

This September, Marvel Comics and 20th Century Studios are teaming up for Alien Vs. X-Men, a historic four-issue crossover saga decades in the making. And fam, this ain’t just some quick gimmick crossover with claws, acid blood, and a prayer. This is mutantkind being thrown directly into cosmic horror with the universe’s so-called perfect organism waiting in the shadows like it pays rent there.

Following the massive success of Alien Vs. Avengers, Marvel’s Alien line is leveling up by pitting the Children of the Atom against the Xenomorphs in a story written by Kieron Gillen with art by Geraldo Borges. And because Marvel clearly wanted to throw gasoline on the nightmare, legendary X-Men creator Chris Claremont is also delivering a four-part bonus story where the Xenomorphs collide with his own parasitic alien terror: the Brood.

The setup? The X-Men go looking for a Phoenix egg.

They find something else!

Now the team is coming back to Earth with deadly cargo, and once that alien horror starts popping off, it’s mutant powers versus nightmare fuel. Will an unexpected ally help turn the tide? Will anybody survive? Or are we about to watch the X-Men learn the hard way that acid blood does not care about your healing factor, bub?

Gillen said, “Alien was the first R-rated movie I ever saw. Aliens is one of the four founding teenage films that I built my understanding of story structure upon. As a hormonal teen, I had a looming Alien poster hung over my bed. I love Aliens so much that I am unhelpfully explaining beats to Geraldo by referencing two-second sequences featuring tertiary characters, as if he cares about Ferro and Dietrich as much as I do. So, yes, this is some prime-grade bucket list stuff for me, and I’m highly enjoying taking the X-Men on an X-press elevator to hell.”

And if that wasn’t enough, young Kitty Pryde is about to face the kind of nightmare that makes danger rooms look like daycare. She’ll be hunted by both the Brood and the Xenomorphs, two of the nastiest alien terrors in the galaxy.

Claremont said, “For me, the coolest aspect here is returning to a universe where I can pit my deadliest alien predators against their movie counter-parts, with Kitty caught in the middle. Kitty brings a hero’s perspective to the challenge that embraces the heart and soul of the X-Men. This story is cram-packed with adventure – plus some crazy surprises along the way.”

So yeah, Crusaders… September is looking dangerous. Alien Vs. X-Men is bringing mutant mayhem, cosmic horror, legendary creators, and enough nightmare energy to make even Wolverine say, “Nah, I’m good.”
