Marvel’s Midnight Universe Reveals Terrifying New #5 Covers

·Al Mega

Marvel’s Midnight Universe is keeping the lights off, the monsters loose, and the heroes in a whole lot of trouble. The publisher has revealed new covers for the fifth issues of Midnight Spider-Man, Midnight Fantastic Four, and Midnight X-Men, giving readers a glimpse at how the horror line will keep escalating in February 2027.

The shared nightmare began in October 2026, and Marvel says orders across the line have already passed one million copies. That’s a publisher-reported milestone, not a sales audit, but it certainly explains why Marvel is leaning into the momentum. These aren’t just spooky costumes slapped on familiar characters. Each series is taking its own corner of the Marvel Universe into increasingly nasty territory.

Midnight Spider-Man #5 comes first on February 3, 2027. Writer Phillip Kennedy Johnson and artist ScieTronc are pushing Spider-Man toward another confrontation with a second-generation monstrosity born out of Oscorp. The situation gets even worse when the mutation responsible for this horror spreads to a new host. Because apparently one nightmare wasn’t enough for Peter Parker. Steve Beach provides the main cover.

Next up is Midnight Fantastic Four #5, arriving February 10, 2027. Writer Benjamin Percy and artist Marcelo Ferreira continue the team’s disturbing physical transformations as Reed Richards searches for an explanation. Meanwhile, another threat is closing in near Storm Systems headquarters. When the Fantastic Four can’t trust their own bodies, being the smartest guy in the room might not be enough. The main cover is by Kev Walker.

The third chapter lands February 17, 2027, with Midnight X-Men #5. Writer Jonathan Hickman and artist Matteo Buffagni continue a tale involving Ronin, Reaver, and an infernal compact. There are bargains in play, and in a world this twisted, nobody should assume the fine print is on their side. Dike Ruan supplies the main cover.

Those February dates put the books one week apart, so readers following all three series will get a steady stream of Marvel horror throughout the month. The official cover reveals also show how differently each creative team is approaching the Midnight Universe. Spider-Man is fighting a spreading mutation, the Fantastic Four are confronting bodily transformation, and the X-Men are navigating something much closer to a supernatural reckoning.

For readers who missed the October launch, Marvel has also announced second printings of the debut issues for October 28, 2026. That’s a chance to catch up before the next round of nightmares rolls into comic shops.

February 2027 release checklist:

  • Midnight Spider-Man #5 — February 3; Phillip Kennedy Johnson, ScieTronc; main cover by Steve Beach
  • Midnight Fantastic Four #5 — February 10; Benjamin Percy, Marcelo Ferreira; main cover by Kev Walker
  • Midnight X-Men #5 — February 17; Jonathan Hickman, Matteo Buffagni; main cover by Dike Ruan

Marvel’s heroes have survived aliens, gods, and multiversal disasters, but this line is asking what happens when the terror gets under their skin. Three teams, three sets of creative voices, and no guarantee anybody comes out looking the same. That’s a pretty good reason to keep the Midnight Universe on your pull list.
