The fallout from Avengers: Armageddon is already reshaping Marvel’s next era, and one of its biggest casualties is apparently not staying dead.
Bucky Barnes returns in Immortal Soldiers #1, a January one-shot from Chip Zdarsky and Christian Rosado that teams the Winter Soldier with Nick Fury Sr. Bucky died during the conflict with Red Hulk, but his mysterious resurrection is now part of a mission Marvel says will help lay the groundwork for major stories ahead.
The one-shot promises answers about how Bucky came back and why Nick Fury Sr. needed him alive. Ben Harvey’s main cover brings the newly revealed partnership front and center.
Meanwhile, Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto’s new Avengers run heads straight into Hell. In Avengers #3, Spider-Man’s team goes after Mephisto following his attack on Earth, only to discover that the devil has picked up some dangerous new allies.
Immortal Soldiers #1 arrives January 13, 2027. Avengers #3 follows January 27.
