AWA Unleashes YEAR ZERO: THE ZOMNIBUS EDITION With New Story and Killer Kickstarter Extras

Yo, Crusaders, AWA is going back into the dead zone, and this time they are bringing the whole damn apocalypse with them. YEAR ZERO: THE ZOMNIBUS EDITION is a 400+ page hardcover collecting the globe-spanning zombie saga in one massive package, with the Kickstarter campaign launching October 10, 2026 and pre-orders running through November 2.

The collection brings together YEAR ZERO VOL. 0, YEAR ZERO VOL. 1, and YEAR ZERO VOL. 2, but AWA is not just repackaging the old material and calling it a day. Writer Benjamin Percy returns with artist Max Von Fafner for OUTER DARK, an all-new 30-page story that takes the outbreak off Earth and onto a space station watching civilization collapse below. Of course, being above the planet does not mean the dead are done with you.

The original saga built its identity by jumping across countries, cultures, professions and wildly different lives instead of locking the zombie outbreak into one neighborhood. Percy worked with artists including Ramon Rosanas and Juan Jose Ryp, while the prequel volume was written by Daniel Kraus with art by Goran Sudžuka. Soldiers, nurses, criminals, scientists, refugees and ordinary people all get thrown into the same ugly question: what happens to humanity when the rules holding everything together disappear?

AWA is also loading up the collector side of this thing. The Kickstarter edition features wraparound cover art from Frank Cho, slipcase art from Tim Bradstreet, plus zombie pin-up artwork from additional comic creators. Lee Loughridge, Frank Martin and Miroslav Mrva are credited on colors across the collected material.

For readers who do not need the deluxe Kickstarter treatment, AWA says a mass-market softcover trade paperback edition is scheduled for March 17, 2027, featuring a cover by Kaare Andrews. So there are two lanes here: the big collector edition for the shelf monsters among us, and a later trade for readers who simply want the complete saga in one place.
