Conan Returns With Blood, Steel, and Necromancer Smoke in Tides of the Tyrant-King from Titan Comics

Titan Comics and Heroic Signatures are about to send Conan fans straight into the deep end, because this September, the Cimmerian is stepping into a brand-new crossover event where the dead don’t stay down, evil refuses to mind its business, and Thulsa Doom’s shadow is back like a bad debt collector with a skull fetish.

After teasing fans on Free Comic Book Day 2026, Titan Comics and Heroic Signatures are finally pulling back the curtain on the next massive Conan adventure: CONAN THE BARBARIAN: TIDES OF THE TYRANT-KING #1, a new miniseries crashing into comic shops on September 23rd. And fam, this ain’t Conan taking a quiet stroll through the marketplace looking for fresh bread and a nice tunic. Nah. This is swords out, death rising, Atlantis-level madness.

The series is written by Conan legend Jim Zub, who already knows how to swing a story like a battle axe, and illustrated by the incredible Jesús Merino, bringing that brutal, myth-soaked energy Conan deserves on every page. Issue #1 also comes stacked with covers from Roberto De La Torre, Utsab Chatterjee, Gerardo Zaffino, Jesús Merino, and Stuart Sayger. That’s not a cover lineup, that’s a war council.

In Tides of the Tyrant-King #1, Conan of Cimmeria thought the vile power of Thulsa Doom had been crushed, buried, and told to stay in the dirt where it belongs. But evil like that? It don’t retire. It reloads.

Now, the dark power of the Atlantean necromancer is stirring again, and if Conan and his allies can’t stop it, the dead are coming for the living like rent is due. The Tyrant-King of Atlantis is rising, and when something ancient, wicked, and way too powerful starts pushing back into the world, you already know Conan is not calling a committee. He’s bringing steel.

The story also brings in Stephen Costigan, another warrior from a different time, whose battles mirror Conan’s in a way that connects both men through a familiar evil crawling through their worlds. Different eras. Same nightmare. Same smoke. Same “somebody better grab a sword before this gets ugly” energy.

Before the main event drops, readers can get primed on September 16th with THE SAVAGE SWORD OF CONAN #16, a special issue loaded with three new tales from Jim Zub. This issue brings a haunting Conan story of corrupted memories and creeping madness with artist Nicola Scott, a return to the weird western world of Howardian gunslinger Steve Corcoran in a sequel to the classic “Vultures of Whapeton” with artist Chris Campana, and a dive into the shadowy past of Zuleika, the femme fatale from the upcoming miniseries, with artist Sean Izaakse.

And because Titan knows Conan fans like their comics with extra meat on the bone, THE SAVAGE SWORD OF CONAN #16 also comes packed with pin-ups and fierce covers from Joe Jusko and Nick Percival. Translation? This is not the issue you casually “maybe grab later.” This is the one you pre-order before your local comic shop gives you that look like, “Boss, you played yourself.”

THE SAVAGE SWORD OF CONAN #16 lands in comic shops on September 16th, followed by CONAN THE BARBARIAN: TIDES OF THE TYRANT-KING #1 on September 23rd. Both titles are available to pre-order now through your Local Comic Shop, with Forbidden Planet handling pre-orders for readers in the UK and EU.

So sharpen the blade, lock the gates, and tell the dead to take a number.
