GODZILLA STOMP! Unleashes Kaiju Chaos on Classic Fairy Tales
·Al Mega

WEPAAAA! YO, FAMILIA! Somebody better call the Fairy Godmother, because the King of the Monsters just crashed story time and he’s NOT here for a happily ever after! Toho International and Penguin Young Readers have teamed up for GODZILLA STOMP!, a brand-new picture book that takes our favorite radioactive troublemaker and drops him smack in the middle of classic fairy tales. Cinderella thought she had problems getting home before midnight? WAIT UNTIL SHE SEES THIS GUY!
Written by award-winning author Katherine Locke and illustrated by Emmy-winning artist Nikolas Ilic, this little slice of kaiju chaos begins on a peaceful fairy-tale island. The Gingerbread Man is visiting the Muffin Man, Little Red Riding Hood is on her way to Grandma’s, and Cinderella is getting ready for the Royal Ball. Everything is sunshine, rainbows, and storybook sweetness. Then GODZILLA shows up! Suddenly, nobody’s worried about a glass slipper anymore, because there’s a giant monster stomping through the neighborhood!
Come on, you KNOW that’s a hilarious setup! We’ve seen Godzilla throw hands with monsters, wreck cities, and remind humanity who’s really in charge. Now he’s invading the world of nursery rhymes and bedtime stories? That’s the kind of crossover madness I can get behind. The book plays with a simple but beautiful joke: everybody keeps telling Godzilla to STOP, but this big fella only knows how to STOMP! Good luck explaining the difference when you’re the size of a skyscraper!
Locke brings an impressive range of storytelling experience, with books for young readers and teens including What Are Your Words?: A Book About Pronouns, Bedtime for Superheroes, and Loki: Journey into Mystery. Ilic, whose work spans animation and children’s publishing, supplies the playful illustrations that bring this fairy-tale monster mash to life. It’s a fun way to introduce the next generation to one of pop culture’s most iconic creatures without making the whole thing a nightmare before bedtime.
And let’s give some love to the idea behind this release. Godzilla has been entertaining fans across generations, and not every adventure needs to be an apocalyptic showdown with humanity hanging by a thread. Sometimes the Big G can just stomp into a fairy tale, make a glorious mess, and give the kids something to laugh about. Kirkus Reviews called out the book’s comedic destruction, and really, what more do you need from a Godzilla story aimed at the little Crusaders?
GODZILLA STOMP! arrived October 13, 2026, as a hardcover picture book from Penguin Young Readers Licenses, created in partnership with Toho International. It’s recommended for ages 4–8, with ISBN 979821724591. Whether you’ve got a young kaiju fan at home or you’re the grown-up who still cheers whenever Godzilla starts knocking things over, this one has family story time written all over it!
Fairy tales, beware. The King of the Monsters has entered the chat, and the Gingerbread Man better start RUNNING! WEPAAAA!
The Crusade Never Ends!
