New York Comic Con week is officially here, and IDW Publishing is starting the madness by turning the lights out. The publisher has announced IDW GOES DARK, a company-wide horror initiative that will spread across its 2027 publishing line with major licenses, returning titles, and new original nightmares.
The lineup includes horror-driven projects tied to Hello Kitty, Sonic the Hedgehog, Godzilla, Star Trek, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. IDW says the initiative will also feature A Quiet Place: Rising Tides, The Twilight Zone, Any Given Smile, Event Horizon: Pandemonium, and previously announced originals including Fatal Fest and Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees: The Summer and the Fall.
Senior Group Editor Heather Antos said the response to IDW’s horror books has encouraged the publisher to go bigger, bringing together recognizable characters, strong creators, and new ideas under the darker banner. NYCC attendees can also grab exclusive ashcans for Fatal Fest #1 and You’ll Never Leave This Place Alive #1 at IDW’s booth while supplies last.
IDW will be at booth #4551 throughout NYCC 2026, with additional signings, exclusives, and announcements planned across the week. The publisher is also teasing more major news for Star Trek, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, horror fans, and a still-classified reveal during its Friday panel.
The IDW panel takes place Friday at 11:15 AM in room 406.2. Comic Crusaders will be watching the rollout closely because if IDW is really handing the keys to the horror crew for 2027, this could get beautifully weird fast.
