DC All In Saga: The New Gods Sends Mister Miracle and Refugees to Earth

WEPAAAA! DC’s Fourth World is coming to Earth, and Scott Free has a problem even Mister Miracle cannot escape. DC has announced DC All In Saga: The New Gods #1, a 48-page one-shot arriving January 13, 2027, from writers Ram V and Alex Paknadel, artist Joan Urgell and colorist Romulo Fajardo Jr. The New Gods are not simply visiting this time. They are refugees, their home is occupied, and the man famous for escaping impossible situations is now responsible for leading an entire displaced people.
Mister Miracle has become Highfather. Scott Free spent his life fighting to control his own destiny, and now he carries the weight of everybody else’s. New Genesis has fallen under the control of sinister alien forces, leaving the surviving New Gods searching for somewhere safe to live. Earth has become their sanctuary, but anybody familiar with the DC Universe knows that sanctuary rarely stays peaceful for long.

Things are already getting ugly. Fourth World technology is being traded illegally on Earth, and the arrival of the refugees is creating tension with their new neighbors. Imagine godlike technology landing in the hands of criminals and opportunists who barely understand what they are holding. Now add the pressure on Scott to protect his people without turning their new home into another battlefield.
That setup gives the story more to work with than another cosmic slugfest. There is a story here about displacement, responsibility and the uneasy relationship between people seeking safety and the world being asked to shelter them. Ram V has never been afraid to dig into the human side of mythology, and giving Scott Free the mantle of Highfather raises a fascinating question: Who is Mister Miracle when escaping is no longer an option?

The one-shot connects directly to DC’s ongoing All In saga. That larger storyline began with DC All In Special #1 in 2024, when Darkseid’s confrontation with DC’s heroes helped spark the Absolute Universe. The consequences continue spreading across both universes, and Darkseid’s influence remains impossible to ignore even as the spotlight shifts to the surviving New Gods.
Before this January release, DC is publishing DC All In Saga: Darkseid vs. The World #1 on October 28, 2026. Written by Scott Snyder and Joshua Williamson with art by Sanford Greene and Yasmine Putri, that issue promises more insight into Darkseid’s past, present and future. The New Gods one-shot picks up the larger cosmic thread while bringing the focus back to Scott Free and the people depending on him.

Ram V returns to these characters following his 12-issue The New Gods series with artist Evan Cagle. In DC’s announcement, V explained that this one-shot offered an opportunity to revisit the characters, explore where their story stands and potentially set up more New Gods adventures. He also teased a major decision about their future, one that could affect both the surviving gods and the humans and superheroes they now call friends.
V is joined by co-writer Alex Paknadel and artist Joan Urgell, with Romulo Fajardo Jr. providing colors. The main cover is by Nimit Malavia, and the variant lineup includes Dustin Nguyen, Kyuyong Eom, Jason Shawn Alexander and Javi Fernández. A foil variant by Nguyen is also planned, giving collectors several options without distracting from the central story.

For me, Scott Free is the hook. He is one of DC’s most compelling characters because freedom has always meant so much to him. Making that same character responsible for people who have lost their home is a sharp turn, and I want to see how this creative team handles it. The Fourth World has always had big ideas beneath the cosmic spectacle. This sounds like a chance to bring those ideas right down to Earth.
