Zack Kaplan Ends a Monster Year at Dark Horse With Kill All Immortals III
Zack Kaplan closes out a massive Dark Horse year with Kill All Immortals III, a savage finale starring Frey Asvald and her fractured immortal Viking family.
Zack Kaplan is not slowing down. Not even a little!
After the explosive monster success of Only The Savage Are Left, the best-reviewed creator-owned debut of the year, tied with D’Orc for top reviews across comics journalists in 2026, plus the immense popularity of Masterminds and the highly anticipated August release of The Smart Division, Kaplan is closing out a blockbuster year with Dark Horse Comics in brutal, bloody, Viking-sized fashion.
Enter Kill All Immortals III, the climactic finale of immortal Vikings, ruthless family drama, and blood-soaked business warfare.
For this final chapter, Kaplan teams with Marvel superstar artist Francesco Mortarino, known for Nyx, Expatriate X-Men, Dune: Water of Kanly, and Avengers. And yeah, that is a serious creative combo right there. This is not just a finale. This is the kind of comic book closer that walks into the room carrying an axe, a grudge, and a billion-dollar inheritance dispute.
After facing mortality for the first time in their lives and somehow surviving the chaos, the Asvald siblings now find themselves at the edge of total destruction. To make it through, they will have to sacrifice everything, because impossibly powerful immortal enemies are coming for them from every direction.
Colorist Thiago Rocha, known for Sister Imperator and Kill All Immortals, returns alongside Eisner-winning letterer Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou, whose work includes Masterminds and The Witcher: The Bear and the Butterfly. Together, the creative team brings back the high-stakes family and societal drama that has been described as Succession meets John Wick. Translation? Rich people problems, but with more axes, blood, betrayal, and bodies hitting the floor.
Arriving in October, Kill All Immortals III features main cover art by series cover artist Oliver Barrett. Issue #1 will also feature variant covers from Eliza Ivanova, known for White Sky, Elena Casagrande, known for Sai: Dimension Rivals, and celebrated cover artist Jenny Frison, known for Batwoman and Sorcerer Supreme.

In Kill All Immortals III, the Asvalds were once a billionaire Viking family with the secret to immortality. That all changed when the family’s only daughter, Frey Asvald, led a rebellion against their barbaric father.
Now the family is splintered, wounded, and hunted by a terrifying world of rival immortals that wants them erased. Frey faces her deadliest adversaries yet, and she must finally decide what matters most: freedom from war or Viking vengeance.
And that is the deliciously savage hook right there. The world of immortal Vikings was already drenched in violence and death when the Asvalds faced just one rival. Now? They are up against an immortal world ready to destroy them.
