LADY BALTIMORE RETURNS: Mike Mignola, Christopher Golden & Bridgit Connell Unleash THE CONSTANT DEATH OF DR. ROSE

Wepa, horror heads, Lady Baltimore is back, and this time the Outerverse is dragging us straight into ghosts, plague, monsters, witchcraft, and one old ally who has become something nobody wants walking around unchecked.

Mike Mignola and Christopher Golden are reuniting with artist Bridgit Connell for Lady Baltimore: The Constant Death of Dr. Rose, a brand-new three-issue Dark Horse Comics series arriving December 16, 2026. Mignola and Golden handle the writing, Connell brings the nightmare to life on art, Michele Madsen delivers the colors, Clem Robins handles lettering, and Abigail Larson provides the cover art.

If you have been riding with the Baltimore universe for years, you already know this world does not hand out peaceful retirement plans. Sofia Valk, widow and confidant of Lord Baltimore, has carried the Baltimore mantle since stepping into the spotlight in 2021’s Lady Baltimore: The Witch Queens, continuing the war against monsters, occultists, and every supernatural nightmare foolish enough to cross her path.

Following the events of 2025’s Lady Baltimore: The Daughters of Medusa, Sofia heads to a remote town reportedly torn apart by a terrifying creature. Sounds bad enough already, right? Nah, fam. It gets worse. The ghost of Lord Baltimore appears with a warning that something far more dangerous has been unleashed, and the source of the nightmare hits painfully close to home.

Their former ally, Dr. Rose, has become possessed by the living embodiment of the plague. Christopher Golden makes it clear that this new chapter is not some disconnected side quest either. “From the first issue of Baltimore until we don’t tell these stories anymore, this is all one world, one story,” Golden explained. He describes Dr. Rose as a courageous ally and friend to Lord Baltimore whose horrific transformation has now turned him into exactly the kind of weapon the Nazis and their witch allies would love to control.

For Sofia, that leaves one ugly option. She has to stop an old friend before he becomes something even worse, and friendship does not exactly make pulling the trigger easier.

Artist Bridgit Connell sounds like she had way too much fun dragging Dr. Rose back into the darkness. Connell calls his journey one of the more fascinating character arcs in Baltimore, tracing his evolution from wartime doctor to book-obsessed monster in hiding. Getting the chance to push that story even further through Sofia and her crew apparently meant leaning hard into the gross stuff too, with Connell teasing that things get “ooey, gooey, fun, and freaky.”

Yeah. We are absolutely here for that. The creative team behind Lady Baltimore has already earned plenty of love for expanding Mignola and Golden’s supernatural world without losing the atmosphere that made the original stories hit so hard.  And yeah, we have been singing this universe’s praises too. As Comic Crusaders previously put it, “Mignola and Golden are probably, page for page, the most consistent writers around.” We said it then, and judging by what they are cooking here, we are not backing off the statement now.

Connell and Madsen’s visual work has also earned praise for maintaining that dark, textured atmosphere fans expect from the Mignola library, while still giving Lady Baltimore its own personality. Add ghosts, plague mythology, Nazis, witches, monster horror, and Sofia Baltimore charging headfirst into another impossible mission, and this three-issue run looks like it could get wild real fast.
