PERPETUAL PARADOX UNLEASH PURE VENOM ON NEW SINGLE “SOURCE OF HATE”

London technical metal bruisers PERPETUAL PARADOX are back swinging, and their latest single, “Source of Hate,” is not here to play nice. The track is the newest taste of the band’s forthcoming five-song EP, May Misery Befall You, and this one trades flashy guitar gymnastics for something nastier, heavier, and way more direct.

Built around massive, punishing riffs, “Source of Hate” gives drummer Harry Cook plenty of room to go completely off the leash. The track moves with the kind of weight designed to turn a packed room into controlled chaos, especially when that slow, crushing callout drops and everything feels like it is about to cave in around you.

Lyrically, the song digs into the ugly cycle of hatred and what happens when somebody gets pushed, provoked, and poisoned long enough that anger becomes the only language they know how to speak. Vocalist Adrian Caucelo describes hate almost like a living parasite, something that gets inside a person, feeds off them, and slowly reshapes who they are.

“‘Source of Hate’ was written about the cycle of hate represented as a disease or parasite growing inside somebody,” Caucelo explains. “The body horror imagery is there to make hatred feel alive, like something feeding on you and reshaping who you are over time. At the start the hate feels external, like something forced onto somebody else, but by the end the character fully becomes it, ‘I am the source of hate.’”

He continues by pointing to the way people can create the very anger they claim to fear by constantly pushing others toward a breaking point. The closing idea, “you’ll choke on it yourself,” brings the whole thing full circle, with hate feeding hate and nobody walking away clean.

May Misery Befall You pulls PERPETUAL PARADOX back toward a more focused, riff-first style of songwriting. The band is still bringing blast beats, technical death metal chops, shredding, melody, and breakdowns, but the technical side is no longer fighting for the spotlight. Instead, every part feels built to serve the song, giving riffs, solos, breakdowns, and transitions room to hit with more purpose.

That shift follows the broader scope of the band’s 2025 full-length Deathwish. This time around, PERPETUAL PARADOX wanted something tighter and more unified, with each section feeling like part of the same beast instead of a collection of ideas welded together after the fact. The EP’s first single, “Smell the Rot,” also has an official music video available for fans who want another taste of where the band is heading.
