Liliana Returns to Innistrad as Vengeance Comes Crawling Out the Shadows

Dark Horse Comics and Hasbro’s Wizards of the Coast are opening the coffin lid on a new chapter of Magic: The Gathering lore with Magic: The Gathering: Untold Stories—Liliana, a four-issue miniseries putting the multiverse’s most dangerous necromancer front and center.

Written by Torunn Grønbekk, illustrated by Nataliia Rerekina, colored by Lauren Affe, and lettered by Clayton Cowles, the series arrives with issue #1 in October 2026, featuring covers by Rerekina, Sibylline Meynet, and Abigail Larson.

Liliana Vess does not walk into a story quietly. She arrives carrying power, pain, bad decisions, and enough death magic to make every demon in the room check the exits. After bargaining her soul to Kothophed, Razaketh, Belzenlok, and Griselbrand, Liliana is done being owned. Now she wants freedom, and she is ready to carve it out herself.

Her hunt brings her to Innistrad, where corruption, chaos, and suffering are basically the local weather report. Griselbrand may be hiding there, but Liliana is not the only one with revenge on the menu.
