M.A.S.K. Gets Fresh With Fadime Yildirim’s Streetwear Variants

Wepa, M.A.S.K. fans, apparently saving the world is not enough anymore. You have to look fresh while doing it. Skybound, Image Comics and Hasbro just revealed a six-cover streetwear variant run from artist Fadime Yildirim, and the M.A.S.K. Network is getting the same fashion-forward treatment she previously brought to G.I. Joe.

The series begins with M.A.S.K. #7 and continues through issue #12, with each cover spotlighting a member of the M.A.S.K. network in customized streetwear complete with unique keychains. Each Yildirim cover will be offered as a 1:25 incentive variant, giving collectors a connected six-issue run to chase beginning this December.

Executive Editor Ben Abernathy said Yildirim’s G.I. Joe covers were strong enough that he wanted to keep the collaboration rolling, this time bringing her fashion-focused vision to both M.A.S.K. and V.E.N.O.M. It is a smart fit. These characters were born from vehicles, masks, wild tech and unapologetic 1980s style, so pushing that visual identity through modern streetwear does not feel like somebody forcing a gimmick onto the book.

The variants arrive alongside the beginning of a new story arc in M.A.S.K. #7 from writer Dan Watters, artist Pye Parr, colorist Pierluigi Casolino and letterer Rus Wooton. Matt Trakker’s leadership is under pressure, trust between M.A.S.K. and V.E.N.O.M. is a mess, and T-Bob’s function suddenly looks like it is going to matter a whole lot more than anybody expected.

Issue #7 is also coming loaded with covers beyond Yildirim’s 1:25 variant. Pye Parr provides the main cover, Nick Bradshaw with Jim Charalampidis and Derek Charm deliver open-to-order variants, Satoshi Shiki handles a 1:50 manga incentive, Arist Deyn provides a 1:100 foil incentive, and there is also a blank sketch cover plus a T-Bob die-cut mask cover from Parr, Luke Preese and Andres Juarez.

Yildirim’s streetwear variants continue through M.A.S.K. #12, making this less of a one-shot fashion flex and more of a full visual run for collectors.
