ART THE CLOWN HIJACKS HALLOWEEN HORROR NIGHTS! Universal Studios Hollywood Unleashes Its Insane 2026 Lineup

Killer Klowns, SLASH, Freaky Nikki, The Purge, FORTNITEMARES and a first-ever daytime Unmasking the Horror Tour join one absolutely loaded season of screams.
Universal Studios Hollywood has officially finished assembling its Halloween Horror Nights 2026 nightmare, and sweet Christmas, they were apparently not interested in letting anybody leave with their nerves intact. The complete lineup brings together Art the Clown, Killer Klowns From Outer Space, SLASH, The Purge, Fortnite, Stranger Things, Sinners, Hellraiser, Evil Dead and Ozzy Osbourne, while adding original nightmares, roaming characters and enough chainsaws to make your neighborhood Home Depot nervous.
Halloween Horror Nights begins Thursday, September 3, 2026, and continues on select nights through Sunday, November 1, transforming Universal Studios Hollywood into a massive playground of haunted houses, scare zones, live entertainment and backlot terror. Tickets are already on sale through Universal Studios Hollywood, with options ranging from General Admission and Early Access to Universal Express, Frequent Fear, Ultimate Fear and the full R.I.P. Tour experience.
Leading this beautiful mess is “Terror Tram Starring Art the Clown,” handing the keys to Universal’s legendary backlot over to one of modern horror’s most recognizable maniacs. Art arrives carrying his blood-soaked bag of presents, realizes he showed up way too early for Christmas and decides the logical response is hijacking the Terror Tram and throwing his own twisted holiday celebration. You know, completely reasonable clown behavior.
Universal is pushing the madness even further by teaming with Ice Nine Kills, who are creating new music for Art’s takeover and twisting familiar Christmas sounds into something far more appropriate for a murderous mime with serious holiday issues. Guests who survive the backlot should not start celebrating either, because Art may also appear elsewhere inside the park when people least expect him. Christmas came early, mi gente, but Santa ain’t making this delivery.
The cult classic Killer Klowns From Outer Space is also marching back into Halloween Horror Nights, giving fans another opportunity to enter the wonderfully ridiculous nightmare inspired by the 1988 horror favorite. Cotton-candy cocoons, murderous alien clowns and all that glorious neon-colored insanity are back on the menu, proving once again that whoever first decided clowns should entertain children had clearly never watched enough horror movies.
Universal is not leaning entirely on established horror franchises either. “Dead, Deader, Deadest” takes guests inside the Deville Family Funeral Home, where a supposed miracle involving the dead goes spectacularly wrong and generations of corpses decide being deceased is apparently overrated. What starts as funeral-home horror escalates into the kind of undead family reunion where nobody is asking who brought the potato salad.
Then we have “KILLceañera: Music by SLASH,” and this one immediately caught our Boricua attention because Universal continues bringing Latin American culture, folklore and horror into the Halloween Horror Nights mix. The original house centers on Lola’s quinceañera, where the traditional celebration takes a violent supernatural turn as vengeful spirits and creatures from Latin American folklore join her revenge against those who wronged her. Grammy-winning guitarist SLASH provides an original score featuring Spanish guitar along with an exclusive track titled “15 Candles.”
That combination could be nasty in all the right ways. A quinceañera already comes packed with music, tradition, family, emotion and spectacle, so flipping those ingredients into supernatural horror gives Universal plenty of room to get visually crazy without treating Latin culture like some cheap Halloween decoration. Throw SLASH into the soundtrack and now Lola is blowing out candles while everybody else is trying not to get blown away.
The streets are getting another new face this year with Freaky Nikki from Focus Features’ Obsession. The character from writer-director Curry Barker’s supernatural horror film will roam Universal Studios Hollywood during Halloween Horror Nights, giving guests the chance to unexpectedly encounter the latest victim of the One Wish Willow curse while moving between attractions. If you have seen Obsession, you already know making wishes around Nikki is probably not the move.
The mayhem keeps spreading through multiple scare zones, beginning with “Hackerz,” where chainsaw-swinging maniacs are waiting for anyone unfortunate enough to wander into their territory. “FORTNITEMARES” brings Epic Games’ annual horror-themed Fortnite event into the real world, while “El Circo de la Muerte” draws inspiration from traveling Mexican circus and sideshow culture and turns it into something considerably less family-friendly. “Blood Bog” rounds out the announced zones with a swampy nightmare populated by creatures lurking through the muck.
There will also be smaller street experiences waiting to catch guests when their guard is down. “Murder of Crowz” returns with its oversized feathered family defending their territory, while “Shriek of the Banshee” brings carnival sideshow horror into the fog with unnatural creatures and a demonic banshee that definitely did not stay where somebody put it. Basically, walking from House A to House B is no longer your safe little snack break.
“The Purge: Dangerous Waters” is coming back to the WaterWorld venue as well, delivering another round of explosions, fire, stunts and lawless Purge chaos. The production has become one of Halloween Horror Nights’ big live spectacles, giving guests something different from the claustrophobic haunted-house experience while apparently trying to determine just how much fire Universal can legally throw around before somebody from accounting starts sweating.
All of this joins an already stacked lineup of previously announced houses, including “Sinners,” “Stranger Things 5,” “Hellraiser,” “Evil Dead Burn” and “Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness.” The combination is pretty damn wild when you look at it together. One minute you are dealing with Cenobites, then Vecna, then Deadites, then vampires, then you are wandering through a nightmare inspired by the Prince of Darkness himself. Your therapist is going to need a Frequent Fear Pass too.
Universal is also introducing something especially cool for horror fans who obsess over how these attractions are actually built. For the first time, Universal Studios Hollywood will offer the “Unmasking the Horror Tour Add-On,” a daytime, lights-on behind-the-scenes walkthrough designed to reveal some of the craftsmanship and creative work hiding underneath all that darkness, fog and screaming. The guided experience will explore elements of the “Sinners” and “KILLceañera: Music by SLASH” haunted houses, with photography permitted in select designated areas.
That could be one of the sleeper hits of the entire season for hardcore HHN fans. Seeing one of these houses while everything is turned on and monsters are flying at your face is one thing, but getting a chance to slow down and actually study the scenic design, props, details and storytelling tricks behind the experience is horror-nerd candy. Ticket options and add-ons can be explored through Universal Studios Hollywood’s official Halloween Horror Nights ticket page.
Guests attending Halloween Horror Nights will also have access to select Universal attractions during the event, including SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, TRANSFORMERS: The Ride-3D, Revenge of the Mummy: The Ride and The Simpsons Ride. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will get darker after sunset too, with Death Eaters stalking the streets as Lord Voldemort’s loyal followers bring another layer of menace to the evening.
Ticket options include General Admission, Universal Express, R.I.P. Tour, After 2 P.M. Day/Night admission, Early Access, Frequent Fear Pass and Ultimate Fear Pass, along with additional upgrades. Early Access can provide entry to select haunted houses beginning at 5:30 p.m., although Universal notes that availability, times and attraction details remain subject to change. Purchase Halloween Horror Nights tickets and review the current options here.
For fans who want to dig deeper before stepping into the fog, the Discover Universal Halloween Horror Nights 2026 guide breaks down the current Hollywood lineup and event information. Additional details, updates and tickets are available through the official Halloween Horror Nights website at Universal Studios Hollywood.
Looking at the complete lineup, Universal did not just throw a couple recognizable horror names on the marquee and call it a season. Art the Clown hijacking the Terror Tram, Ice Nine Kills mangling Christmas music, SLASH scoring a murderous quinceañera, Killer Klowns returning, Freaky Nikki stalking guests and The Purge setting WaterWorld on fire gives 2026 a personality of its own. Add Sinners, Stranger Things, Hellraiser, Evil Dead, Ozzy, Fortnite and Universal’s original creations, and Halloween Horror Nights Hollywood is basically saying, “Pick your nightmare, fam. We got plenty.”
