WEPAAAA! New York Comic Con just wrapped its massive 20th anniversary run, and the numbers are straight-up wild. ReedPop says more than 250,000 fans stormed the Javits Center from October 8 through October 11, 2026. This whole movement started two decades ago with roughly 33,000 attendees packed into a single hall. Now, NYCC stands as one of the biggest pop-culture gatherings on the planet, right here on our New York turf.
The impact went far beyond the convention floor. According to figures cited by ReedPop from New York City Tourism + Conventions, this year’s show generated an estimated $91 million in economic impact for New York City. That is a whole lot of comics, cosplay, hotel rooms, subway rides, food runs, exclusive drops and wallets getting absolutely violated by Sunday afternoon.
The weekend delivered everything NYCC fans came hungry for, including major panels, premieres, creator appearances and wall-to-wall activations. Programming featured Dexter: Resurrection, Avatar: Seven Havens, Crystal Lake, The Rookie, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Ghosts, Blade Runner 2099, Children of Blood and Bone and Whalefall. From television and movies to comics, collectibles and gaming, there was always something popping off somewhere inside the Javits Center.
Hollywood showed up heavy with appearances from Nicolas Cage, Paul Bettany, Lena Headey, Matt Smith, Hayden Christensen and Ian McDiarmid. The show floor brought together more than 650 publishers, brands and retailers, while Artist Alley featured over 500 participants. Comic book royalty was in the building too, including Alex Segura, Ben Percy, Chris Claremont, Denys Cowan, Frank Miller, Jim Lee, Katie Cook, Peach Momoko and Tom King.
NYCC also expanded its professional programming by opening select sessions to fans through a new aspiring-professionals program. That kind of access matters because conventions should do more than celebrate the industry. They should help the next generation break into it. The Cosplay Central Crown Championships qualifier also returned, with Silwen Cosplay claiming first place and earning a trip to C2E2 2027 for the national finals.
“New York Comic Con would not be what it is today without our incredible community,” said Kristina Rogers, VP of ReedPop US Comics Portfolio, BookCon and Star Wars Celebration. “We had a blast celebrating all weekend long with our fans, our team, and our amazing partners and can’t wait to find out together what the next 20 years of pop culture will bring.”
NYCC returns to the Javits Center October 7 through October 10, 2027. After a 20th anniversary weekend this massive, year 21 already has one hell of a bar to clear. The countdown has officially begun, familia. The Crusade Never Ends!
