Drova: Forsaken Kin – Android Review
·Gabriel Mateo

Drova: Forsaken Kin brings a dark, gritty pixel RPG to Android with a strong atmosphere and a world that feels dangerous from the moment you step into it. The art style hits right away, the fire effects look great, and the combat has weight behind it. On the surface, this should be an easy recommendation for mobile players who want something deeper than the usual quick‑hit games.

The gameplay itself is solid. Combat feels responsive, the screen shake adds impact, and the world is full of lore and choices that actually matter. It’s the kind of game that encourages long sessions, exploring every corner and reading every bit of dialogue. The controls help with that too. You can move buttons around, resize them, adjust transparency, and even use a controller without any issues. For a mobile action RPG, the control setup is one of the better ones out there.

Visually, the game holds up well on Android. The pixel art is clean, the animations are smooth, and the environments feel handcrafted. The UI scales well and the text is easy to read, which is something a lot of ports still struggle with. If you’re judging the game on presentation alone, it’s in a good place.
The problem is performance. After about twenty to forty minutes, the game starts to slow down. Frames drop, stutters kick in, and eventually the whole thing freezes and crashes. This happened on multiple devices, so it’s not a phone issue. It’s a memory leak in the Android build, and it makes long sessions almost impossible. Battery use is fine and load times are quick, but none of that matters when the game can’t stay running.
Compared to the Steam Deck version, the difference is huge. The Deck runs it smoothly with no crashes, sharper visuals, and full controller support. The Android version is convenient, but the Deck version is the one that actually lets you enjoy the game the way it was meant to be played.
Drova has a lot going for it. The world, the combat, the art, the atmosphere — all of it works. But the Android port holds it back in a big way. If you’re curious, the free intro is worth trying. If you want the full experience, the Steam Deck or PC version is the better choice.
CRUSADERS SCORE:
2.5 / 5
A strong RPG weighed down by a rough mobile port.
