WEPA, Crusaders! Chase Muir joins Al Mega on Comic Crusaders Podcast #761 to talk Superior Marketing #1, his new indie comic from Hat & Glasses Comics that asks a question superhero books usually ignore: what happens after the hero saves the day but absolutely destroys their reputation doing it?

Superior Marketing takes superhero insanity and throws it directly into the world of PR, branding and social media damage control. When a hero named Paragon turns what should have been an easy public appearance into a marketing nightmare, the team at Superior Marketing Services has to figure out how the hell they’re going to save his image. Comic Crusaders checked out the first issue and gave it a 4/5, digging the way Chase turns superhero culture into a workplace comedy without losing the cape-book fun.

Chase and Al get into where this wonderfully ridiculous idea came from, creating superheroes in an era where every mistake can become a hashtag in about three seconds, building the Superior Marketing team, finding the right creative collaborators and what he’s learned taking his first comic through the indie publishing and crowdfunding grind. We also get into how you make fun of superhero culture without simply turning the entire genre into one big cynical joke.

There’s plenty of creator talk here too, because getting a comic from an idea in your head to actual finished pages is a whole different superpower. Chase assembled a team featuring artist Omaik Neiv, colorist Taiky M., LetterSquids on lettering, cover artist Alberto Hernandez Rivero and editor Andrea Lorenzo Molinari, and Superior Marketing #1 launched its Kickstarter campaign on September 7.
