Monique Efta | Project N-Terro: The Yellow Pill | GeekFest/Comic Crusaders Special 2026
·Al Mega

WEEEEPAAAA, Crusaders! Comic Crusaders is reconnecting with GeekFest Film Festival 2026, and this time Al Mega is entering the corrupted neural battlefield of Project N-Terro: The Yellow Pill with the film’s director and creative force, Monique Efta.
Set in 2165, Project N-Terro unfolds in a dystopian America devastated by violence, political corruption, technological upheaval, and genetic mutation. Tarra, played by Casey Cuellar, works as a double agent for Neuro-Terrain Recovery Operations, a government organization capable of extracting information through neural links. Her latest assignment requires her to swallow a banned psychic drug known as the yellow pill and enter the mind of Chad, a violent criminal connected to human trafficking and a clandestine operation called the Flesh Circus.
The deeper Tarra travels into Chad’s mind, the harder it becomes to separate her mission from the traumatic memories driving her anger. What begins as an interrogation mutates into a brutal struggle involving abuse, vengeance, institutional manipulation, and the terrifying possibility that politician Nathan Birsha may be protecting or controlling the trafficking operation.
Written and produced by military veteran, actor, and filmmaker Traycee King, the project draws upon themes of government exploitation, psychological conditioning, systemic trauma, and the human cost of obeying destructive institutions. Monique Efta transforms those ideas into a feverish combination of political horror, body horror, science fiction, and psychological thriller.
Efta’s journey to the director’s chair carries its own powerful story. Raised in a deeply religious environment, she studied for ministry and worked as a missionary before confronting her identity, coming out, rebuilding her life, and pursuing a creative career. After experimenting with comedy, voiceover performance, client relations, and independent production, she found filmmaking to be the space where empathy, leadership, and storytelling could finally operate together.
Her work now explores psychological survival, power, identity, inclusion, and the ability of cinematic storytelling to reshape how people understand themselves and one another. Project N-Terro brings those interests together inside a hostile futuristic world where personal trauma becomes both a weapon and a point of vulnerability.
Film Threat praised Project N-Terro as a gritty, well-crafted science-fiction short, awarding it an 8/10 and highlighting its degraded archival footage, dystopian atmosphere, makeup effects, and harrowing interrogation. The production has also received festival recognition, including awards associated with the Los Angeles Crime and Horror Film Festival and Shock A Go Go.
During this Comic Crusaders x GeekFest conversation, Monique joins Al Mega to discuss changing careers later in life, overcoming self-doubt, collaborating with Traycee King, creating believable science fiction with independent resources, directing traumatic subject matter responsibly, and using horror to expose the systems that classify, manipulate, and weaponize vulnerable people.
The conversation also explores the film’s depiction of ADHD and psychic potential, the ethics of revenge, Tarra’s unstable relationship with her handler Brimstone, and the larger mythology waiting beyond The Yellow Pill. With its government conspiracies, neural warfare, genetic mutations, and politically protected monsters, Project N-Terro feels less like a closed short film and more like the first classified file from an expansive universe.
