AVENGERS #1 UNLEASHES A NEW ERA AS CHIP ZDARSKY AND MARCO CHECCHETTO ASSEMBLE EARTH’S MIGHTIEST SURVIVORS
·Al Mega

Marvel is blowing up the Avengers playbook this November, and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes are coming back with scars, baggage, and one hell of a new lineup.
AVENGERS #1, from the powerhouse creative team of Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto, hits comic shops on November 4, launching a bold new chapter for Marvel’s flagship super-team. The creators reunite following their Eisner-nominated run on Daredevil, but this time they are stepping onto a much bigger battlefield, and judging by Marvel’s first lettered preview, they are not easing into this thing quietly.
The new ongoing series spins directly out of AVENGERS: ARMAGEDDON, the five-issue series from Zdarsky, Delio Diaz, and Frank Alpizar that kicked off in June. After a catastrophic showdown with Red Hulk, the Avengers are finished. Disbanded. Cooked. At least that is what the world thinks. Problem is, evil did not get the memo!
Earth still needs somebody willing to stand up when everything goes sideways, and the new Avengers roster is definitely not playing it safe. Captain Marvel, Spider-Man, Daredevil, Wolverine, Luke Cage, and a mysterious powerhouse new hero come together as what Marvel is calling Earth’s Mightiest Survivors.
That name tells you plenty about the energy surrounding this run. This is not simply another Avengers team assembling because somebody hit the emergency button. These heroes are stepping into a damaged Marvel Universe where the public has plenty of reasons not to trust them. They have to protect a world that may not even want their protection.
Marvel has released a first look at the issue through a never-before-seen lettered preview, giving readers an early taste of how Zdarsky and Checchetto are rebuilding the Avengers from the rubble. The preview will also appear in the back of select Marvel releases over the coming weeks as part of a larger push to spotlight the publisher’s upcoming launches. And collectors, yeah, Marvel knows exactly what y’all are waiting for.
AVENGERS #1 is joining the TRUE BELIEVERS BLIND BAG madness.
These sealed blind bags will contain exclusive variant covers that cannot be ordered through Marvel’s regular ordering system. The standard cover and normal open-to-order variants will not appear inside the bags, meaning every blind bag is built around exclusive artwork, chase covers, or something considerably harder to find.
Two additional covers have now been revealed, including a new Adi Granov variant and a Marvel Studios AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY variant tied to the upcoming movie. Both will be exclusive to the True Believers Blind Bags. And Marvel is throwing some serious names into this chase.

EACH AVENGERS #1 TRUE BELIEVERS BLIND BAG CAN CONTAIN:
- Color Block Blue Wraparound Variant Cover by David Nakayama
- Color Block White Wraparound Variant Cover by David Nakayama
- Foil Variant Cover by Clayton Crain
- Variant Cover by Adi Granov
- Variant Cover by Alex Maleev
- Variant Cover by Alan Davis
- Variant Cover by Peach Momoko
- Variant Cover by Simone Bianchi
- Virgin Variant Cover by Artgerm
- Marvel Studios Avengers: Doomsday Variant Cover
- Blank Variant Cover
- Rare hand-drawn sketch covers from surprise contributors
Yeah, that last one is where collectors are gonna start acting disrespectful toward their wallets. Marvel is also teasing super-rare, one-of-a-kind hand-drawn sketch covers from mystery contributors. Translation for the collecting fam: somebody is going to crack open one of these bags and immediately start screaming like they just pulled the comic-book equivalent of Willy Wonka’s Golden Ticket.
But underneath all the variant hunting, there is a bigger story here. Zdarsky and Checchetto are taking one of Marvel’s most recognizable franchises and rebuilding it around a world where the Avengers are no longer automatically viewed as the good guys who arrive, save everybody, collect applause, and bounce. The Avengers have to earn that trust again.
That gives this relaunch some real juice beyond the big-name creators and collector bait. Captain Marvel, Spider-Man, Daredevil, Wolverine, and Luke Cage already bring dramatically different personalities, philosophies, and approaches to heroism. Throw a mysterious new powerhouse into that mix while the Marvel Universe is already looking at superheroes sideways, and somebody is definitely getting on somebody else’s nerves. Probably Wolverine. C’mon, we know the assignment. The road to AVENGERS #1 is already underway in AVENGERS: ARMAGEDDON, available now, with more previews and cover reveals expected ahead of the November launch.
AVENGERS #1 arrives November 4.
Earth’s Mightiest Heroes may be gone, but Earth’s Mightiest Survivors are ready to assemble. And mi gente, this lineup looks like it came to fight for the name.
The Crusade Never Ends!
