FISTICUFFS: Book Four Surpasses Kickstarter Goal by More Than 100%; Late Pledges Open Through August 25

·Al Mega

Superpowered horror comic from SchwartzArt explores addiction, dysfunction and asks, “How much explosive force it takes to crack open a closed mind?”

SchwartzArt, LLC is excited to announce its latest Kickstarter Campaign for FISTICUFFS: Book Four raised $6,213 from 109 backers, surpassing its $3,000 funding goal by more than 100%. Late pledges will remain open until August 25, 2026 at 10:05 p.m. ET.

FISTICUFFS follows Nick Roark, a functional drunk whose comfortable life derails after a one-night stand has deadly consequences. The series combines chaotic action, pitch black humor and character-driven horror to tell a story faithful to the struggle of a suffering addict.

FISTICUFFS was created and written by Fred Schwartz (Hardbody, Metroidvania Black), illustrated by Stan Yak (Broken Gargoyles, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin, Metroidvania Black), colored by Robert Nugent (Spawn, Geiger) and Timothy C. Brown (KISS, Army of Darkness and South Bound), lettered by Dave Sharpe (The Amazing Spider-Man, Thanos and Harley Quinn).

“The series draws on the patterns of addiction and dysfunction very honestly,” says writer Fred Schwartz. “The characters are flawed, but well-intentioned people who wind up doing insane moral gymnastics to justify one man’s refusal to face himself. To sum up the premise of the piece, how much explosive force does it take to crack open a closed mind?”

Scott Snyder, writer of Absolute Batman, calls FISTICUFFS, “…wildly original.” Former DC Comics co-publisher Dan DiDio says the story, “…brings a raw and visceral style of storytelling designed to assault and entertain your senses.”

Mark Russell, writer of Superman: Space Age and The Flintstones, describes FISTICUFFS as having, “…sharp humor and an underlying sadness that instantly connects you to these characters and their world.
