FLUX HOUSE PRESENTS #1 Goes Full Brain-Melt With Matt Kindt’s 64-Page Comics Experiment

·Juan James

Matt Kindt is not easing into the next phase of FLUX HOUSE.
He is kicking the lab doors open and letting the weird stuff run loose.

Oni Press has revealed an extended look at FLUX HOUSE PRESENTS #1, a 64-page quarterly anthology built to bounce from prehistoric survival to reality-bending science fiction and full-throttle espionage without asking permission first.

Written and curated by Kindt, the oversized debut brings together a stacked lineup of collaborators including Brian Hurtt, David Lapham, Alison Sampson and Ella Kindt, with covers by Sharlene Kindt and Emma Ríos. The issue is scheduled to hit comic shops on October 7, 2026, priced at $9.99, with a Final Order Cutoff of August 31. If your pull list likes its comics unpredictable, this one is basically waving both arms at you from across the shop.

The anthology opens with “TALKING TO STRANGERS”, a new story from Kindt and Alison Sampson set in a derelict world inhabited by adorable dolls with a taste for blood. Cute and horrifying is always a dangerous combo, and this setup sounds perfectly tuned to the off-center energy FLUX HOUSE has been building.

Next comes “SPARK”, the first half of a two-part story written and drawn by Kindt. The story drops readers into a hunter-gatherer community fighting to survive changing seasons while discovering new tools and methods that could decide who makes it to the next cycle. Rather than leaning on futuristic tech, Kindt goes all the way backward and turns survival itself into the engine.

“ROOM 101”, created by Kindt and David Lapham, changes the frequency again. A seemingly abandoned motel room hides doorways connecting different points across time and space. One room, infinite bad decisions. Yeah, we are listening.

The issue closes with a new FORT PSYCHO story from Kindt and Brian Hurtt, extending the high-impact spy madness of the series into the anthology. Readers already following Comic Crusaders’ coverage of FORT PSYCHO know that subtlety is not exactly the mission statement.

FLUX HOUSE PRESENTS is designed to arrive four times a year between arcs of MIND MGMT: NEW & IMPROVED. Instead of forcing every idea into its own ongoing title, the format gives Kindt and his collaborators a place to test concepts, introduce new worlds and drop self-contained stories with room to get strange.

That structure fits the larger FLUX HOUSE philosophy. Since moving the imprint to Oni Press, Kindt has continued expanding a creator-owned line built around genre collisions, unconventional presentation and stories that feel like somebody wired paranoia directly into the printing press. Comic Crusaders has been following the rollout from the beginning, including the Oni Press and FLUX HOUSE partnership and the return of MIND MGMT: NEW & IMPROVED.

With four stories, multiple visual voices and a format built around creative left turns, FLUX HOUSE PRESENTS #1 looks less like a traditional anthology and more like Matt Kindt handing readers a keyring to several locked rooms at once. What is behind each door? Probably trouble. Possibly dolls. Definitely comics.
