CURSE OF THE WHERE WOLF UNLEASHES MORE BLOOD, LAUGHS AND TEXAS-SIZED CHAOS

·Al Mega

Robert Saucedo, Debora Lancianese and Jack Morelli reunite for a bigger, bloodier and surprisingly heartfelt sequel, available now from Encyclopocalypse.

Being a werewolf sounds cool until you realize the job comes with uncontrollable hunger, questionable life choices and a very real possibility that somebody you love winds up on the menu. Welcome back to Larry Chaney’s life, mi gente.

Following the breakout success of Where Wolf, writer Robert Saucedo (Birth. Movies. Death.), artist and colorist Debora Lancianese (Quicksand, The Lost Gardens, Fear Me, Love Me) and Harvey Award-winning letterer Jack Morelli (Afterlife with Archie, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) are back together for CURSE OF THE WHERE WOLF, an all-new horror-comedy graphic novel that takes Larry Chaney’s supernatural problems and cranks the insanity up several bloody notches.

Larry wanted to be a hero. Life basically looked at that plan, laughed in his face and handed him a werewolf curse instead. Now he is stuck trying to navigate incredible new powers, a rapidly disappearing sense of normalcy and an appetite that has absolutely no respect for friends, family or basic social etiquette. His mission sounds simple enough, find a cure before the monster wins. Of course, nothing in Larry’s world is ever that easy.

The original Where Wolf first sank its teeth into readers as a black-and-white webcomic through Fangoria before Encyclopocalypse Publications collected the series in 2023. Its mix of horror, comedy and pure Texas-flavored weirdness quickly built a following, proving there was plenty of room in the werewolf genre for a story willing to spill blood and crack jokes in the same breath.

The franchise has also caught Hollywood’s attention. Where Wolf currently has an active film and television option with producers Charles Horak and James Fino of Starburns Industries, the company connected to projects including Rick and Morty, Anomalisa, HarmonQuest and The Freak Brothers. Not bad for a guy whose biggest daily concern is trying not to turn everybody around him into a midnight snack.

Saucedo and company lean even harder into the madness with Curse of the Where Wolf, mixing the hyperactive fun of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, the supernatural insanity of Dungeon Crawler Carl and the horror-comedy bite of I Hate This Place. There is plenty of monster mayhem here, but underneath all the teeth, fur and carnage sits something surprisingly human. Larry is still trying to figure out who he is, what kind of man he wants to be and whether he can control the beast before the beast completely takes over.

Fans of What We Do in the Shadows and King of the Hill should feel right at home in this beautifully bizarre corner of Texas, where cryptids are real, curses are complicated and even the biggest loser in town might still have a shot at becoming the hero.

The creative team includes Robert Saucedo on writing, Debora Lancianese on art, colors and cover, and Jack Morelli on letters. Missed the first volume? Consider this your excuse to catch up before Larry’s problems get even hairier.

The moon is out, the curse is loose and Larry Chaney is once again having one hell of a bad week. Sounds like our kind of comic. 🐺
