The complete five-issue Image Comics action-comedy throws super-thieves, interdimensional crime lords, gonzo artwork, and old-school beat-’em-up insanity into one face-melting graphic novel.
Some comics want to tell you a nice little story.
DEATH FIGHT FOREVER wants to grab the controller, kick down the arcade door, and start throwing hands.
Bestselling Head Lopper creator Andrew MacLean has joined forces with Space Riders artist Alexis Ziritt for DEATH FIGHT FOREVER, an absolutely bonkers action-comedy from Image Comics packed with interdimensional criminals, super-powered bruisers, revenge, ridiculous firepower, and enough retro arcade DNA to make anybody who grew up feeding quarters into beat-’em-ups start hearing boss music.
The complete five-issue miniseries has now been collected into a trade paperback, bringing the entire neon-soaked slugfest together in one volume. Image Comics released the collection to comic shops on August 12, with its wider bookstore release following September 8.
At the center of this glorious madness are Crash and Bash Biggle, super-thief brothers who aren’t exactly known for solving problems through thoughtful conversation. The two jump into the fight alongside Commander Thunderfang against the interdimensional crime lord Lord Slyther, a cobra-headed nightmare with ambitions that stretch far beyond your average neighborhood racketeering operation. Then Marla Mendoza enters the picture.
As leader of the COPZ gang and one of Slyther’s most dangerous loyalists, Marla’s collision with Bash completely changes the game. What starts as another mission against Slyther spirals into something much bigger, dragging Bash and Marla into a violent chase fueled by revenge, survival, unlikely alliances, and the small problem of trying to stop a transdimensional demon from wrecking everything in his path.
And visually? This thing looks like somebody took a stack of underground comics, a forgotten ’90s arcade cabinet, heavy-metal album covers, Saturday morning insanity, and three cans of radioactive spray paint and shook ’em together. That’s exactly where Alexis Ziritt shines.
His explosive visual style brings the kind of wild energy Space Riders fans already know, while MacLean’s action-comedy sensibilities keep the fists flying without losing the personalities underneath all that beautiful destruction. The collected edition also features artwork from Al Gofa, Sam McKenzie, Erwin Papa, and MacLean, turning the book into a showcase of wildly expressive styles built around one ridiculously fun universe.
There’s a real love for old-school action running through DEATH FIGHT FOREVER, especially the era when games didn’t need a 40-minute tutorial explaining seventeen crafting systems before you could punch somebody. You picked a character. You hit START. Bad guys showed up. You handled business. Simple. Beautiful. Civilization at its peak.
But MacLean and company aren’t merely copying nostalgia. They’re taking that arcade vocabulary and smashing it into comics, using the exaggerated characters, outrageous villains, escalating encounters, and colorful visual chaos as fuel for something that feels simultaneously familiar and completely off its rocker.
Image Comics’ collected edition brings together DEATH FIGHT FOREVER #1-5, packing the entire saga into one shot for readers who missed the individual issues or just want the whole damn fight without waiting for the next round. The trade carries ISBN 9781534330184 and an official Image Comics cover price of $16.99.
The trade paperback is available now through local comic shops, with the wider bookstore release landing Tuesday, September 8, 2026, through independent bookstores and retailers including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-a-Million, Indigo, and Waterstones. Digital readers can also find the series across platforms including Kindle, Google Play, Apple Books, Nook, Everand, Kobo, OverDrive, Hoopla, Comics Plus, and more.
So if your comic collection has been feeling a little too civilized lately, DEATH FIGHT FOREVER might be exactly the uppercut it needs.
Crazy villains. Giant personalities. Arcade-fueled violence. Gonzo artwork. Interdimensional mayhem.
Insert coin, mi gente. This fight ain’t ending anytime soon.
