CYCLOPS AND BEAST COLLIDE IN A FIGHT TO THE DEATH AS DNX SHATTERS THE X-MEN’S FUTURE

Marvel’s X-Men and Fantastic Four crossover reaches its explosive conclusion this November, setting the stage for a major shakeup and an all-new solo series
Marvel is about to throw years of mutant tension into a blender, hit maximum power, and leave the X-Men scrambling through the wreckage.
This November, the final chapters of DNX will bring the X-Men’s war against the mysterious organization known as 3K to a brutal conclusion. Waiting at the center of the chaos is a showdown mutant fans have been dreading and dying to see: Cyclops versus Beast, Scott Summers against Henry McCoy, in a fight where only one may walk away.
Except this is Beast we are talking about, so “walk away” might already be asking for too much.
Written by Jed MacKay with artwork by Federico Vicentini, DNX launches in September and brings the X-Men together with Marvel’s First Family, the Fantastic Four. The five-part event is positioned as the culmination of storylines that have been building throughout MacKay’s mutant run, particularly the disturbing rise of 3K and its increasingly dangerous experiments involving mutant evolution.

At the heart of the crisis is 3K’s twisted mission to “make more mutants,” whether humanity, mutantkind, or common sense agrees with the method or not. Their plan finally becomes reality with the creation and potential release of the X-Virus, a threat capable of transforming the future of mutantkind on a massive scale.
After Cyclops witnessed a possible future during Age of Revelation, the X-Men believe they understand what is coming. Unfortunately, anybody who has survived more than five minutes in the Marvel Universe knows the future does not follow instructions. Timelines bend, plans collapse, and somebody usually gets punched through a laboratory wall before breakfast.
That uncertainty forces the X-Men to seek help from Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, Ben Grimm, and the rest of the Fantastic Four. Together, the two teams must stop 3K before the X-Virus is unleashed and an already unstable situation becomes a global disaster.
By the time DNX #4 arrives, the heroes are no longer dealing with a threat they can neatly contain. The X-Men and Fantastic Four must regroup following an unexpected catastrophe while the consequences of the Chairman’s plan begin spreading far beyond anyone’s control.
The Chairman, revealed as Beast, may believe he has calculated every possible outcome, but even the smartest maniac in the room can overlook a few ugly variables. As flaws appear in his scheme, the battle shifts from preventing catastrophe to surviving what has already been unleashed.
Henry McCoy’s transformation from beloved founding X-Man to dangerous mutant mastermind has been one of the longest and most controversial character descents in modern X-Men history. DNX appears ready to drag that conflict into the open and force Scott Summers to confront the friend, teammate, and brother-in-arms Beast used to be. There will be no easy intervention, no calm conversation over coffee, and probably no group hug waiting at the finish line.

The crisis spills directly into X-Men #41, a major DNX tie-in written by Jed MacKay with artwork by Netho Diaz. As the X-Men and Fantastic Four work together to rescue civilians, ONE arrives with orders to establish and enforce a quarantine zone. While both groups may claim they are trying to protect lives, their missions are not built to coexist peacefully.
The X-Men know what government-controlled containment usually means for mutants. ONE sees an expanding biological threat that cannot be allowed to escape. Both sides may have legitimate concerns, but trust has never exactly been overflowing between mutantkind and armed government agencies. With civilians trapped inside the crisis, the heroes will have to decide whether cooperation is still possible or whether the quarantine becomes another battlefield.
Everything comes crashing together in DNX #5. X-Men versus 3K. Scott Summers versus Henry McCoy. Cyclops versus the Chairman. Marvel is not teasing a friendly disagreement or another round of mutant philosophical debate. The publisher is promoting this confrontation as a fight to the death.

Cyclops has spent years carrying the burden of protecting mutantkind while watching former allies cross lines they could never uncross. Beast has crossed enough of those lines to build a whole subway system. Their final confrontation promises to be personal, violent, and potentially devastating for everyone connected to the X-Men.
The fallout will not disappear when the crossover ends. Marvel has already confirmed that DNX will create a major turning point for MacKay and Diaz’s ongoing X-Men series, with a significant team shakeup expected once the dust settles. The publisher has also teased an all-new solo series launching in the aftermath, with further details scheduled to be revealed in the coming weeks. [1]
That means DNX is not being positioned as another crossover readers can casually skip before returning to business as usual. Marvel is loading this event with consequences, new directions, and at least one major launch designed to carry the mutant line forward.

DNX #1 arrives in comic shops on September 2, 2026. The debut issue will also be offered in True Believers Blind Bags containing exclusive covers unavailable for individual purchase.
Readers can preorder DNX and X-Men through their local comic shop and follow the unfolding mutant crisis at Marvel.com and Marvel.com/DNX.
Cyclops and Beast have survived genocide, time travel, alien invasions, broken friendships, and more mutant drama than a Thanksgiving dinner at the Summers residence. This November, all those scars come due.
No more theories. No more excuses. Somebody is catching that optic blast.
