Fox Mask Killer Steps Out of the Shadows in EXQUISITE CORPSES’ Deadly New Spin-Off

·Al Mega

WEPA, Crusaders! The mask is coming off, and you already know that means things are about to get messy.

Tiny Onion and Image Comics are bringing fans deeper into the blood-soaked, blade-sharp world of Exquisite Corpses with Exquisite Corpses: Fox Mask Killer, the second spin-off series from the hit horror franchise. And fam, this one is not just another side story. This is the kind of character dive that walks into the room quiet, locks the door behind you, and says, “Now we talk.”

Superstar writer Che Grayson of Absolute Catwoman and powerhouse artist Adam Gorham of The Infernal Hulk are teaming up again after their work on Exquisite Corpses Season One #4, where they delivered that tense showdown between Fox Mask Killer and Lady Carolina. Clearly, there was too much smoke left in the room to walk away from it, because now they’re back to explore the origins of the fan-favorite sword-wielding assassin in a new five-issue limited series launching this September. And the creative squad? Stacked like a bodega sandwich at 2AM.

Joining Grayson and Gorham are Eisner Award-winning colorist Jordie Bellaire of The Nice House and Redlands, along with critically acclaimed letterer Becca Carey of Radiant Black. That’s not a team, that’s a problem. A beautiful, violent, emotionally devastating problem.

The launch issue is also coming loaded with covers from a killer lineup of artists, including Adam Gorham, Annie Wu, Ito, Mike Huddleston, Inhyuk Lee, and Exquisite Corpses co-creator Michael Walsh. Walsh’s variant will arrive polybagged with a collectible trading card tied to Exquisite Corpses: The Game, which recently found success on Kickstarter. On top of that, fans can also look out for a special Witchblade team-up variant by Walsh. So yes, collectors, start stretching now. Your wallet is about to do cardio.

For Grayson, Fox Mask Killer was the kind of character that grabbed attention immediately. The design, the aura, the mystery all of it screamed that there was a bigger story hiding behind the mask. Now, with this limited series, readers finally get to see what happens when that mask comes off. Not just in a visual sense, but emotionally. Spiritually. Tragically. You know, the good comic book trauma. The premium stuff.

Gorham also returns to the world of Exquisite Corpses ready to bring the chaos, calling the story packed with brutal action and razor-sharp characters. And honestly, that is exactly what this franchise does best. It takes horror, style, violence, and character drama, throws them in a blender, and somehow serves you something that feels slick, nasty, and weirdly addictive.

The story follows Fox Mask Killer, one of the most feared killers-for-hire in a world already crawling with assassins. That alone tells you everything. When other killers are scared of you, you are not just dangerous. You are the final boss with a silence problem. But now, Fox Mask Killer wants something she may not be allowed to have. She wants out. The catch? The only person who may be able to offer her an escape from her old life might be the devil herself. Because of course it is. Nobody gets a clean exit in a world like this. You don’t just clock out from being legendary. You bleed for it.

Exquisite Corpses already made serious noise as one of the biggest original comics debuts of 2025, selling over 700,000 issues to date and marking a major win for five-time Eisner Award-winning writer James Tynion IV, co-creator Michael Walsh, and the massive “Corpse Crew” of creators helping build this wild horror universe. And this thing is not slowing down.

The franchise is expanding with Exquisite Corpses: Rascal Randy, from writer Tyler Boss, artist Dylan Burnett, colorist Jordie Bellaire, and letterer Becca Carey, hitting shelves first this July. After that comes Exquisite Corpses: Fox Mask Killer, followed by Exquisite Corpses: Lone Gunman, written by Pornsak Pichetshote and drawn by Alberto Ponticelli. There’s also an anthology one-shot, Exquisite Corpses: Book of the Dead, arriving ahead of Season Two, plus a feature film adaptation in development with Tiny Onion and Lyrical Media. So yeah, this is not a franchise testing the waters. This is a franchise kicking the door open with blood on its boots and a plan in its pocket.

Exquisite Corpses: Fox Mask Killer is shaping up to be more than just an origin story. It looks like a sharp, violent, emotional unraveling of a character fans already feared, admired, and wanted to know more about. The mask made her iconic. The story behind it might make her unforgettable. Crusaders, keep your eyes locked on this one. Because when Fox Mask Killer finally shows us who she really is, somebody is definitely not making it out clean.
