Fifty Years of Judge Dredd brings together 40 legendary stories, exclusive creator interviews, and five decades of Mega-City One justice in one colossal anniversary hardcover
Drop the gates and clear the streets, citizens. Britain’s toughest lawman is celebrating half a century of dispensing justice, cracking skulls, and terrifying creeps across Mega-City One!
Rebellion has announced Fifty Years of Judge Dredd, an oversized omnibus celebrating the unstoppable comic book career of Judge Dredd. Arriving February 11, 2027, the massive collection gathers 40 of Dredd’s greatest complete stories from the pages of 2000 AD, alongside brand-new interviews with several of the legendary writers and artists who helped transform him into a global comics icon.
Available as a standard hardcover and a webshop-exclusive slipcase edition, this beast is built for longtime Dredd fanatics and curious newcomers ready to experience the Lawman of the Future without getting buried beneath five decades of continuity. Everything here has been carefully selected to showcase exactly why Dredd has remained one of the most powerful, versatile, and brutally entertaining characters in British comics.

The exclusive slipcase edition takes the celebration even further. Every copy will be individually numbered and feature new artwork by Henry Flint, inspired by Carlos Ezquerra’s original Judge Dredd character design. Flip the slipcase around and you will find Ezquerra’s historic original sketch staring right back at you. That is not just packaging, mi gente. That is a piece of comics history wrapped around a brick of Mega-City justice.
Created by writer John Wagner and artist Carlos Ezquerra, Judge Dredd first stormed onto the pages of 2000 AD in 1977. For the next 50 years, he has patrolled the violent, overcrowded streets of Mega-City One as judge, jury, and executioner. No cape. No secret identity. No inspirational speech before the cuffs go on. Dredd arrives, delivers the sentence, and keeps the bike moving.

His stories have never stayed locked inside one genre. Judge Dredd can hit readers with savage political satire, explode into full-scale warfare, dive headfirst into science-fiction horror, or unleash a ridiculous comedy without losing what makes the character work. Beneath the helmet and granite jaw sits a brutal instrument of authority, giving creators endless room to examine justice, corruption, fascism, humanity, and the absurdity of a society spiraling out of control.
Fifty Years of Judge Dredd captures that incredible range. The collection moves from legendary confrontations with Judge Death and the Dark Judges to stories exposing the corruption festering inside the Justice Department itself. Readers will travel through apocalyptic wars, intimate tragedies, twisted romances, absurd comedy, and some of the hardest-hitting social commentary ever smuggled into a weekly science-fiction comic.

The creative lineup is stacked with absolute giants. Alongside the foundational work of Wagner and Ezquerra, the omnibus features contributions from internationally celebrated talents including Brian Bolland, Cam Kennedy, Duncan Fegredo, R.M. Guéra, Jock, and many more. These creators did not simply draw Dredd standing around looking mean. Each brought a distinct visual identity and storytelling rhythm to Mega-City One, helping the character evolve without sanding away his razor-sharp edge.
The book also includes original interviews conducted by Eisner Award-winning writer Michael Molcher, author of I Am the Law. From co-creator John Wagner to master stylist Jock, the writers and artists who shaped Dredd’s world discuss the character in their own words, exploring how he has remained relevant, provocative, and impossible to ignore across five uninterrupted decades of publication.

Among the 40 selected stories are landmark moments ranging from the devastating tragedy of Bury My Knee at Wounded Heart to the gloriously bizarre comedy of Crossing Ken Dodd. The collection reaches across Dredd’s enormous history, touching everything from The Apocalypse War and the Dark Judges to Young Giant and the stranger corners of the Lawman’s career.
Plenty of comic book characters survive for 50 years. Judge Dredd has spent those 50 years kicking down the door, issuing citations, and daring the industry to keep up. He has remained frightening, hilarious, controversial, and painfully relevant because Mega-City One’s exaggerated madness keeps looking a little less exaggerated every year. Funny how that works, huh?
Published as part of 2000 AD’s 50th-anniversary celebrations, Fifty Years of Judge Dredd is shaping up to be the ultimate bookshelf monument to one of the most important characters in comics history.
