Ryan Stegman and Carlos Gomez revisit the birth of Marvel’s Lethal Protector through the eyes of the symbiote in a five-issue limited series launching this December
We all know how Spider-Man remembers the birth of Venom. This December, Marvel is flipping the entire nightmare around and letting the symbiote tell its side of the story.
VENOM: POV is a new five-issue limited series that returns to the classic Amazing Spider-Man saga behind Venom’s introduction to the Marvel Universe. Instead of watching the madness unfold through Peter Parker’s eyes, readers will experience the betrayal, rage, obsession, and bonding of Eddie Brock and the alien symbiote from Venom’s perspective. That shift could change everything fans thought they understood about one of Spider-Man’s greatest enemies.
The series comes from two creators who know their way around symbiote-fueled chaos. Ryan Stegman writes the story and supplies the main covers, while Carlos Gomez handles the interior artwork. Together, they are heading back to Venom’s earliest days to dig deeper into the pain and fury that transformed two rejected souls into one of Marvel’s most dangerous beings.
Before Venom became the Lethal Protector, Eddie Brock was a disgraced reporter whose life had collapsed around him. At the same time, an alien symbiote abandoned by Spider-Man was searching for a new host and carrying its own very personal grudge against Peter Parker.
Eddie and the symbiote did not simply join forces. They found common purpose in their hatred, creating something bigger, stronger, and far more terrifying than either of them could have become alone. Fans know what happened next, but VENOM: POV promises to reveal what those iconic moments felt like from inside that shared mind.
“For anyone of my generation, this story was as exciting as it gets,” Stegman said. “However, it did leave a lot of questions about Eddie that needed answering… Hope I can make that happen!”
Stegman has spent years helping shape Venom’s modern mythology, making him a natural choice to crack open Eddie Brock’s earliest chapters and explore the unanswered questions hiding between those legendary pages. With Gomez bringing the action, horror, and raw physical power to life, this creative team is ready to make Venom’s origin feel dangerous all over again.
This is not simply the same classic story with the camera moved to the other side of the room. VENOM: POV has the opportunity to climb directly into the wounded minds of Eddie Brock and the symbiote, revealing how rejection became rage, how rage became vengeance, and how vengeance created an icon. Spider-Man told us what happened. Now Venom gets the mic.
VENOM: POV #1 arrives from Marvel Comics this December. Ryan Stegman’s main cover has been revealed, with additional details about the series coming in the months ahead.
