Miss Mina and the Midnight Guardians Brings Manga-Horror Mayhem to Kickstarter

WEPAAAAA, Crusaders! Now this is the kind of Kickstarter madness I like to see. Miss Mina and the Midnight Guardians: The Legend of the Golden Jaguar is back on the hunt, and Fun Time Go! is throwing manga energy, steampunk machinery, classic monsters, pulpy adventure and straight-up gothic chaos into one oversized graphic novella. Dracula wants the world, Mina Murray has other plans, and somebody apparently forgot to tell this crew that subtlety was an option.
Created and written by comic-industry veteran David Hedgecock, this latest chapter drops us into an alternate 1801 where Dracula has Europe in a chokehold and is now pushing toward the Americas. His target is an ancient Amazonian power tied to the mysterious Golden Jaguar, and if the Vampire King gets there first, everybody may as well start shopping for blackout curtains. Standing in his way is Mina Murray, sharp-tongued, battle-ready and rolling deep with a ragtag squad of monstrous misfits who look like Hammer Horror wandered into a manga studio after midnight and decided to start a bar fight.

The main story is illustrated by the Xong Brothers, whose kinetic style gives this world the right amount of speed, exaggeration and visual swagger. The backup story brings in Osvaldo “Montos” Montpeller and David Garcia Cruz, while bestselling author Jonathan Maberry contributes a prose tale with spot illustrations by Omar Lozano. That is a serious bench for a crowdfunding project, and it helps explain why Fun Time Go! keeps positioning Miss Mina as more than another one-and-done Kickstarter.
The ingredients are gloriously ridiculous in the best possible way: vampires, monsters, mechanical limbs, mysticism, zeppelins, swordplay, secret ancient powers and a heroine who looks completely comfortable walking into supernatural warfare before breakfast. The creative team is clearly having fun with the collision of classic literature and modern visual storytelling, but there is enough structure underneath the spectacle to keep the whole thing from becoming random monster soup.
Collectors are getting hit from every direction here. The campaign includes five cover options featuring work from the Xong Brothers, Ludo Lullabi, Chuma Hill and Tony Harris, including a Battle Chasers homage variant from the Xong Brothers. We pulled the official campaign artwork supplied by Fun Time Go! so you can check out the covers below and decide which one is going to cause the argument between you and your bank account.

The rewards do not stop with covers. Backers can dig into collector boxes, pins, exclusive dust jackets, metal prints, early-backer discounts and additional goodies through Fun Time Go!’s VIP program. This is crowdfunding built for the collector brain. You start out saying, “I just want the book,” and fifteen minutes later you are doing advanced mathematics to justify a metal print and three covers. I know the sickness, mi gente. I have seen the spinner rack. I have survived the variant era. Barely.
Miss Mina and the Midnight Guardians first arrived in 2024 with The Legend Begins, followed by The Legend Continues. The series has steadily built its own alternate-history playground around familiar literary monsters without simply recycling the same Dracula-and-company material we have all seen a thousand times. Mina is positioned as the engine of the story, while the surrounding cast lets Hedgecock and company bounce between horror, adventure, comedy and full-on action without losing the identity of the world.
For indie comics and crowdfunding, presentation matters. You are asking readers to believe in something before it lands in their hands, and this campaign comes loaded with finished-looking artwork, recognizable creators, multiple formats and a concept you can understand in about five seconds: Mina Murray and a crew of monsters are trying to stop Dracula from taking over the world. Boom. I’m in. Now show me the giant monster with the robotic arm.
The campaign for Miss Mina and the Midnight Guardians: The Legend of the Golden Jaguar is live on Kickstarter and is scheduled to end October 2, 2026. You can also visit Fun Time Go! for more on the publisher and the expanding series.
Indie creators swinging big, artists getting room to cut loose, monster comics refusing to behave and Kickstarter giving fans a direct lane into the action? Yeah, that is exactly the kind of crusade we like around here. Check the campaign, scope those covers, choose your poison and support the creators if this madness speaks your language. The Crusade Never Ends.
