STREET FIGHTER X KAMEN AMERICA #1 KICKS OFF WITH A $100K FIRST-ROUND KNOCKOUT

Wepa, Crusaders. Somebody rang the bell and apparently forgot to tell the internet this was only round one.

STREET FIGHTER X KAMEN AMERICA #1 is officially live on Kickstarter, bringing UDON Entertainment’s legendary World Warriors face-to-face with Kamen America and the Kamen Corps. The campaign came out swinging too, crossing $100,000 in pledges within its first 12 hours. And yeah, this crossover is exactly as wonderfully ridiculous as the title promises.

M. Bison is doing what M. Bison does best: being an absolute menace. The Shadaloo boss is looking to strengthen his forces through his DOLL program while recruiting elite fighters through the World Warrior Tournament. That puts Street Fighter’s roster on a collision course with Carly Vanders, better known as the bio-electric, style-conscious henshin heroine Kamen America.

For anyone unfamiliar with Carly, she started as a small-town girl chasing a career in fashion before cosmic debris changed the assignment completely. The accident gave her the ability to manipulate bio-electricity, leading to the birth of Kamen America and eventually the Kamen Corps.

Now throw that energy into a universe populated by Ryu, Chun-Li, Ken, Cammy, M. Bison and the rest of the Street Fighter insanity and you have the kind of comic-book mash-up that immediately makes you ask, “Okay, but who fights WHO?”

That is half the fun here. Street Fighter already operates like a superhero universe wearing fighting-game gloves, while Kamen America proudly embraces transformation heroes, monsters, costumes and larger-than-life action. The DNA fits together better than the title alone might suggest.

The Street Fighter x Kamen America: Championship Edition crowdfunding campaign is live now, with UDON teasing cover reveals and preview pages as the campaign continues.

More than $100K in half a day says fans were ready for this fight before the bell even rang.
