HOT WHEELS x TRANSFORMERS BUMBLEBEE TURNS G1 INTO A $65 TRANSFORMING VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE

Okay, toy collectors, this one is dangerous for the wallet.
Hasbro and Mattel are teaming up again for another Hot Wheels x Transformers release, and this time Bumblebee is rolling into the garage with his classic G1 DNA intact.
The new Hot Wheels Transformers Bumblebee takes everybody’s favorite Autobot scout back to his 1967 Volkswagen Beetle roots, then runs the design through the Hot Wheels machine. The result is a 1:64-scale collectible with a weathered paint finish, Real Riders wheels, and, yes, an actual transformation into robot mode.
That last part is what separates this from simply being another tiny die-cast Bumblebee. The robot has 13 points of articulation, meaning Mattel and Hasbro are trying to make this feel like both sides of the collaboration matter. It needs to look right rolling across a Hot Wheels display and still scratch that Transformers itch when you convert it. The collectible is aimed at ages 14 and up and carries an approximate retail price of $65. It goes on sale through Mattel Creations beginning September 17, 2026.

This is the third 1:64 Hot Wheels and Transformers collaboration, and Bumblebee is pretty much the perfect character for the concept. The original Volkswagen Beetle silhouette is instantly recognizable, the yellow paint screams Bumblebee before you even see an Autobot symbol, and the G1 angle goes straight for collectors who remember when transforming robots came with instruction sheets that could ruin an afternoon.
Sixty-five bucks for a 1:64 car is obviously not impulse-buy territory for everybody. But a transforming, articulated G1 Bumblebee with Hot Wheels detailing is also exactly the kind of crossover item that is going to disappear into collector displays very quickly.
Just remember what they said in the press release: not getting one might sting.
