TALES OF WONDER #2 BRINGS AMERICA’S FREEDOM FORCE CRASHING INTO OUR WORLD

Tales of Wonder #2 Cover A by Steve Skroce and Ian Herring

Crusaders, Steve Skroce is apparently not interested in easing anybody into this thing.

Skybound and Image Comics have revealed the first look at Tales of Wonder #2, and America’s Freedom Force has officially crossed over into Stu and Jake’s world. Great news if you always wanted your favorite comic-book superheroes to become real. Slightly more concerning when you remember superheroes usually come packaged with supervillains. That is the question hanging over issue #2: if the heroes made it here, where the hell are the bad guys?

Skroce is handling writing and art, with Ian Herring on colors and Pat Brosseau lettering the limited series. The concept plays with the relationship between comic-book fantasy and the people who create, love, and sometimes get their hearts broken by comics. Kieron Gillen described the series as part Kavalier and Clay, part Galaxy Quest, which is one hell of a cocktail.

The new issue hits comic shops on October 7, 2026, priced at $3.99, with a full variant program behind it. Skroce and Herring provide Cover A, followed by Ito on Cover B, Jorge Fornés on Cover C, Ben Stenbeck handling the 1:25 incentive, and Stefano Cardoselli on the 1:50.

But the real hook is the collision between the imaginary superhero world and reality. Comics have spent decades asking what superheroes would look like “in the real world.” Tales of Wonder gets to twist that question by making the fictional mythology itself part of the story.

Skybound’s preview pages show America’s Freedom Force making the jump, and if issue #1 established the emotional and satirical engine, issue #2 looks ready to slam the accelerator.

Heroes are here.

Now somebody better figure out where the villains landed.

Tales of Wonder #2 arrives at comic shops and digital platforms October 7 from Skybound and Image Comics.
