Brian Michael Bendis and Jacob Edgar Unleash a Wild New Prophecy in The Ones Vol. II: The Other Ones

Dark Horse Comics reunites the acclaimed creative team for another hilarious, mythology-smashing superhero adventure launching December 9, 2026

The Chosen Ones survived their first prophecy, but the universe clearly has not finished messing with them.

Dark Horse Comics is bringing back its wonderfully unhinged superhero satire with The Ones Volume II: The Other Ones, an all-new four-issue miniseries from Peabody and Eisner Award-winning writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Jacob Edgar. The cosmic comedy returns to comic shops on December 9, 2026, with a fresh prophecy, dangerous new rivals, and enough mythological confusion to make destiny file for overtime.

Bendis, known for Ultimate Spider-Man and Powers 25, reunites with Edgar, whose credits include The Rocketeer and Batman. They are joined by colorist K. J. Díaz, known for A Mischief of Magpies and Los Monstruos, and letterer Joshua Reed of Witness Point and Skate Ali.

The original series introduced a collection of heroes from different mythologies who had each been told they were the one true Chosen One. Imagine finding out your grand cosmic destiny came with several dozen duplicate appointments. Even worse, the prophecy ordered them to join forces and defeat the actual Chosen One.

Nothing wrecks a superhero’s confidence faster than learning the universe has been recycling the same motivational speech.

With that first world-ending disaster behind them, the team is ready for another mission. Unfortunately, destiny has cooked up an even bigger headache.

The Ones must now face the Other Ones, another group of people who were also told they were cosmically important. These newcomers are not taking the news well. Bruised egos, competing prophecies, mythological mayhem, and potentially apocalyptic consequences are about to collide in a story built for readers who like their superhero adventures smart, ridiculous, and completely off the leash.

The new arc expands the series’ chaotic mythology while preserving the character chemistry and comedic energy that made the first volume such a hit. It also works as a jumping-on point for newcomers, so readers can dive directly into the madness without having completed a graduate course in conflicting prophecies.

Bendis and Edgar are leaning hard into everything that makes this world pop. The stakes may be catastrophic, but the real fuel comes from watching this bizarre collection of heroes argue, bond, panic, and somehow attempt to save a world that refuses to stop producing Chosen Ones.

The first volume earned strong praise for its sharp humor, genre satire, character-driven storytelling, and fresh spin on superhero conventions. Now the creative team is ready to push the concept further by asking one beautifully dangerous question: What happens when everybody believes destiny picked them?

Spoiler alert: probably nothing calm.

The Ones Volume II: The Other Ones #1 will arrive at comic shops on December 9, 2026. The debut issue will be priced at $4.99 and is available to preorder through your local comic shop.
