TRANSFORMERS #37 Puts Elita Prime at the Center of Cybertron’s Next Fight

The war for Cybertron is about to get a whole lot more personal.
Skybound and Image Comics, working with Hasbro, just dropped a first look at Transformers #37, and this one is switching gears in a big way. The new story arc kicks off with a standalone Elita Prime story from writer Robert Kirkman, joined by guest artist Karl Kerschl, colorist Mike Spicer, and letterer Rus Wooton. Hitting comic shops on October 14, 2026, Transformers #37 puts Elita Prime front and center and asks one nasty little question: how far is she willing to go to win the war for Cybertron?
Fam, when a story starts asking questions like that, you already know somebody is about to make a decision they cannot take back. Elita Prime has always carried serious weight, but this issue looks ready to dig into exactly what leadership costs when your entire world is stuck in a war that refuses to end. The preview teases a story built around sacrifice, survival, and the pressure that comes with carrying the Prime name. This is not just another battlefield chapter. Kirkman and company appear to be putting the spotlight on Elita herself, giving readers a closer look at what drives her and what she may be willing to sacrifice to get Cybertron across the finish line.
Karl Kerschl steps in as guest artist for the issue, bringing his work from The Adventures of Superman into the Energon Universe, while Mike Spicer handles colors and Rus Wooton returns on letters. Jason Howard provides the main cover for Transformers #37, but Skybound is not exactly coming light with the variants either. Collectors will also find a cover by Daniel Warren Johnson and Mike Spicer, another by David Nakayama, a 1:25 incentive variant from Nick Bradshaw and Jim Charalampidis, a 1:50 incentive variant by Ethan Young, a specialty finish cover by David Lafuente, and a blank sketch cover for anybody who wants to get creative with it. That is a lot of temptation sitting on one pull-list entry. Consider your wallet warned. The two-time Eisner Award-winning Transformers remains one of the biggest pillars of Skybound and Hasbro’s Energon Universe, the shared comic-book world bringing Transformers, G.I. Joe, and several other major franchises under one connected banner.

The line currently includes Void Rivals from Robert Kirkman, Conor Hughes, and Patricio Delpeche, along with G.I. Joe from Joshua Williamson, Tom Reilly, and Lee Loughridge. M.A.S.K. is also part of the growing lineup, with Dan Watters writing, Pye Parr on art, and Pierluigi Casolino handling colors. Skybound has spent the last few years building this universe around big reveals, unexpected connections, and stories designed to reward readers who are following the larger picture. Every title keeps feeding into something bigger, and Transformers #37 looks like another important piece of that machine.
The first look gives fans an early glimpse at Elita Prime’s next move in the battle for Cybertron, and if the setup is any indication, this issue could end up being far more important than your average standalone chapter. Leadership always sounds glorious until somebody has to pay the bill.
Transformers #37 lands in comic shops and on digital platforms including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, priced at $3.99 unless otherwise noted.
