The night creatures might want to start updating their résumés because the Survivors are coming for them. Titan Comics has revealed the trailer for VAMPIRE SURVIVORS #1, bringing the monster-smashing madness of the hit game into comics with writer David Hazan and artists Jimmy Kucaj and Jão Canola leading the charge.

Forget hiding under the blankets when something goes bump in the night. In this world, the things doing the bumping have a much bigger problem. The Survivors have grown stronger, meaner and a whole lot better at turning supernatural nightmares into yesterday’s business using whips, knives, magic and, because some traditions deserve respect, enough garlic to make Dracula reconsider his whole career path.

The story drops readers into the chaos alongside the Belpaese siblings, who have been tasked with clearing out a fresh infestation of monsters. Sounds like another day at the office until Imelda Belpaese crosses paths with The Trickster, an ancient evil that is not interested in throwing hands the traditional way. This thing gets inside your head, tears at your reality and leaves destruction behind while making the victim question what the hell is even real. Here is where things get nasty. Imelda can see The Trickster, but nobody else can.

Now she has to deal with an invisible nightmare stalking her every move while the people around her remain completely unaware of what is happening. Meanwhile, the Belpaese siblings are already doing what siblings do best, arguing like somebody changed the Wi-Fi password, and the rival Ladonna family is applying even more pressure. Imelda is getting hit from every direction, and The Trickster knows exactly where to push.

That setup gives VAMPIRE SURVIVORS #1 a little more bite than simply watching monsters get wrecked. Yes, the ridiculous arsenal, supernatural chaos and relentless creature-slaying energy are absolutely here, but Hazan is also throwing Imelda into a psychological fight where swinging harder may not solve the problem. When your enemy can destroy everything around you while everybody else thinks you’re losing your mind, things can go sideways real quick.

For fans already familiar with Vampire Survivors, this comic looks ready to embrace the wonderfully insane spirit that helped make the game such a phenomenon while expanding its world through a story built specifically for the page. Newcomers, meanwhile, are getting a pretty simple invitation: monsters everywhere, dysfunctional families, ancient evil and weaponized garlic. C’mon, fam. What else do you need?
